I'm seeing more and more agents on TikTok, Facebook, etc. saying that the DTV is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain AND to keep.

I think this visa is really hurting their business and that it's in their best interest to stir up fear.
Answer summary
There are growing concerns among expats that the DTV visa is becoming harder to obtain and maintain, primarily due to increased scrutiny from embassies and the reaction of visa agents who may be perpetuating fear for their business interests. While some agents on social media platforms assert that more DTV visas are being revoked, experiences shared by applicants indicate that approvals are still achievable, particularly if all requirements are met. Many successful applicants remain quiet about their experiences, leading to a perception that rejections are more frequent than they actually are. Overall, the discussion highlights the divide in perceptions about the DTV visa among applicants and agents.

It has been the case here in koh Phangan as soon as DTV started, some visa agents started spreading news that the government was going to stop DTV anytime soon and it was risky and not worth doing ... The same people that use to charge foreigners

It's so easy to get it. Got it in 2 days. Flown to Bangkok same week . Officer on airport after seeing my 15 stamps from COVID extensions just asked me what I'll be doing in Thailand. It was so nice to answer that I'll be working here remotely :)

Most people who successfully receive their visa simply read the discussions, keep a low profile, and move on with their lives. They rarely feel the need to announce that everything went smoothly.

On the other hand, a very large proportion of those who are denied, probably 90 percent or more, tend to share detailed posts about their experience. Because of that, you naturally see far more stories about rejections than approvals. It creates the impression that failures are more common, when in reality it is just that successful applicants usually stay quiet.

for sure

And me the first when my visa was granted I didn't post anything

My post was more about some "agent" who try to spread fear because they loose money with this visa

Less visa run for them etc

Just to share our experience as a Thai Soft Power provider, there is some truth to the claim, but from what we've seen, it’s mostly about embassies increasing their scrutiny. We believe this is standard for a new visa, and it likely aligns with the broader push to crack down on "grey" business activity we've seen in the news recently.

This should not affect genuine applicants. If your background is clear, i.e. no overstays or criminal history.. and your documentation requirements are met, there should not be any concern. The agents feeling the pressure are likely those dealing with "grey area" applications that don't fit the visa's intent.

Another factor is the completeness of the program. Mid-last year, embassies reached out to several providers like us requesting a higher volume of classes. It was a big hurdle to overhaul our curriculum at the time, but it's paid off for our students because we haven't seen any rejection since we updated everything last November.

For us, it’s a confirmation that the higher class frequency plays a part of what they’re looking for in the approval process.

"Soft Power" appears to be getting increasingly scrutinized, and given some of the enquiries on this group, it's not hard to understand why.

I think the rule is that if the claim is legitimate, and all the necessary Thai rules are followed, it's straightforward.

This is a “fun post,” so I will decide to play in the mud 😆 🐷 Look, they’re making a TON of money off of DTV visa, lol. In my humble opinion, worth the LCD it’s written on, I don’t think this visa is going away. Think about it; They’ve got your loyalty for 5 years:

5-years renting or buying their empty over-built condo buildings, many that are at risk of default

5-years buying/leasing their motorbikes, or taking Grab/taxi everywhere

5-years grocery/restaurant/bar-tab

5-years entertainment, sight seeing, general tourism

5-years using their rather lovely medical and government services

5-years as digital nomad making free content to advertise for their tourist industry and convincing others to live here and spend without worry

5-years exchanging foreign money for THB because cash is premier, scan2pay all you want however it ignores the obvious; they work in cash and one DTV equals 5-years of it flowing in.

3rd-hand anecdotes simply don’t account for the reality of the money and the many people on these visas. Cancel one visa and it’s maybe 50,000thb/month gone to another country. Perhaps more depending who it is.

Anonymous participant I see. It may hurt certain jobs very slightly. A calculated risk of the decision to make it.

As for that individual, I would say that logic is the slave to passion 🤣 The same could be said to my original comment 🤣

Anonymer Teilnehmer i would never believe any of these agents. its wasted time listening to them. same as all the wannabe youtube experts that claim to know it all. we have seen when the DTV was announced how less knowledge these people really have. especially pattaya based people.

What do you mean it’s difficult to keep? It’s extremely rare that a visa is revoked.

It must be as they are scaremongering, we went worried due to post we had seen and it took 6 working days total for 1 muay Thai DTV and then 2 dependant ones. Only issue we had was entering the agent accidentally stamped me 60 days which I noticed and he immediately changed it. Not one question at immigration either
