PENDING CHANGES TO VISA EXEMPT ENTRY/EXTENSION PROCESS
There is no doubt that the "winds of change" are blowing regarding the 60 day visa exempt entry program and the extensions associated with them. It also appears these changes (what ever they turn out to be) will take effect Monday Nov 17th
The inter-web is rife with every Tom, Dick & Somchai influencer :O posting about the changes like they have some back-channel path to what's really gonna happen
BUT
at this time there is no real direction from the immigration office as far as what will happen and how any changes will be implemented.
Because of this, we're not letting posts on the group asking about it and we're deleting comments that try to quote what the changes will be. Until we get hard evidence from immigrations spelling out exactly how these changes will work, who they will affect, and what they really are we're keeping a lid on the rampant speculation sweeping the tiny portion of the inter-web that is thai related.
We realize these changes will affect many people and as soon as we know ANYTHING concrete as far as what will be happening we will indeed share it
We're just not gonna fan the flames of mis-information that are raging out of control on the inter-web..
Thanx one and all for your understanding in this matter...
Ok Im new here, trying to sort through different visas and requirements.
I'm 64, in Texas, there no embassy near me but there is a " Royal Thai Consulate" in Dallas. I'm planning to retire next year and looking to move to SEA. I dont like the idea of a large amount of my money held hostage as in Philippines. I'm thinking the DTV would be best. So here are some thing I cant get straight.
1-as I understand it the DTV does not require the big deposit, is that correct?
A-it requires proof of minimum of 65,000 tbht
B- does it have to be to a thai bank or can i show statements from my US bank?
2- under soft power there is mention of use of medical facilities or wellness resort can qualify. can someone clarify wellness resort?
3- do you have to continue to prove income every time you renew for the 5 year term? Not a problem, just clarifying
What’s up in Pattaya? At night market by central mall and almost every stall is indian run! Most of Pattaya is like that now! How can they all work, guarentee all don’t have work permits!
Hi guys - sorry, I know topics/questions like this appear often, but I am too lazy to look it up....
I am considering moving to either Thailand or Philippines within the next few months. Totally unsure just where to start my initial endeavor. My budget will be $4K USD (VA Benefit) per month - I know I can live well in each (not so much Bangkok) in either. I don't mind posting up somewhere for a couple of weeks while traveling to explore to find long-term (1yr+) place to settle down for a while.
I am looking at Boracay/Cebu, or similar; or in Thailand, Krabi, Phuket, Bangkok, or??? I've been to all many times, lived in HK for 4 years and lots of travel to each. I like action, things to do, nice beach (not Bangkok) and great expat community.
Since being unsure, looking for advice for a relative noob - what do you wish you knew, or did know before arrival. What would you recommend for early entry into APAC looking to post up for a couple of years. I do like the fact that I can move and around freely and go place to place.
Also, what about shipping medicine from the US? Better to just get here? One last thing - how is Amazon delivery? I am used to ordering at 9PM, and getting the next day? I understand its nothing like that, but how reliable is the shipping/arrival?
Thanks much in advance for your help and guidance.
TM30 updating after leaving/returning to Thailand - my understanding is that it is no longer necessary to have TM30 updated (living in Chiang Mai on a tourist visa) after each short trip out of the country. Could a well-informed person please let me know if this remains the case? (I've searched the group but not found this issue addressed.)
I'm seeing a few posts recently where people are saying that immigration do not like in country extensions on the DTV and prefer you to do a border bounce. And also that Bangkok Bank (and perhaps soon others) are shutting down accounts for DTV holders.
We have Bangkok Bank accounts, opened years ago when we lived there. Also a Krung Thai bank account. No issues so far. Currently we are off shore.
We qualify for DTV, LTR or retirement. We have an online business that produces passive income and have savings.
I'd like to hear from holders of each to see which is better and if you've had any trouble before with extensions. Thanks.
Hey guys i would like to go to Lao using golden triangle crossing for DTV visa jump in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, week of october. Anybody wanna tag along? I am alone currently.
