She really wants to be in Thailand for two events around three weeks apart. And she is travelling elsewhere, so returning home to get a tourist visa is not easy. Would you think that being here for a week, then leaving to another Asian country for a week (where she has a job/visa / residence), then coming back to Thailand and getting another VOA would work? Ie not a bounce but leaving the country for a week or so then coming back? She has been in Thailand once before, a few years ago, but seemed to think the VOA was 30 days then, so hence she hadn’t thought this would be an issue. She has no other ‘problematic’ travel history to Thailand. Thanks

- my understanding is (and based on the tourist visas I’ve had), once your visa is approved, you have 90 days to enter Thailand on that visa. Your visa is then valid for 60 days from the day you enter. So you CAN apply for a tourist visa up to 90 days before, but as Stuart mentions, the turn around time of visa processing is usually very quick, so there is no need to apply so far in advance. A few weeks in advance of travel is usually more than enough. Maybe this helps clarify?

In Penang, you submit the visa in the morning and collect 2pm the next day. Very straightforward. Requirements on the Thai Consulate Penang website

Perfect thanks, and the usual question but I can’t remember the answer (and didn’t find it easily when searching) - do they extend 30 days from the last date of the original stamp, or 30 days from the day you attend immigration? Many thanks!

Yes second that comment. If you want to get them an extension, they will need to be with you and do all the forms, photos etc same as adults. But kids can overstay with no problems so you could just not bother. Last time I went with my little one though we arrived at 8.30 and were out by 8.50. So if you do go I suggest going early! And people are always nice to the kids in my experience

Guardian visa obtained in Phnom Penh recently. Submitted Tuesday morning (no appointment), picked up Friday afternoon (time specified upon submission). Requirements as listed on the form/website. All straightforward

- yes seems odd to me too. I wasn’t sure money orders even existed anymore! I’ll ask at the post office. I just assumed I could pay online and include a reference number or something, but seems not …

- sorry another question - Australia uses paper rather than E-forms. It says ‘visa fees can be paid by exact amount of cash, money order or bank cheque’. Any idea - is it literally ok to just put $60 into the envelope with the application?! Thanks!
