I got asked that at check in Ho Chi Minh. My hotel and flight out bookings, i said i had a visa, showed it to her (she took a picture of it), handed me my boarding pass. You don't need an onward flight when you have the visa.

I came in yesterday, showed my visa in my phone, got my stamp and left immigration. TDAC links to your passport, they don't need to see it.
