What should we do when our DTV visa expires and how can we renew our entry stamp in Thailand?

Hello, we are a couple with a DTV visa and in March our six-month stay expires, meaning we can leave the country again. We went to the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok and no one could explain what we need to do or which office we need to go to to renew our entry stamp, or if that's not possible, how to do it online, etc.

Is there anyone with experience who can advise us on exactly which office we need to go to, or if we can do it online, how to do it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A couple with a DTV visa is seeking advice on renewing their entry stamp as their six-month stay in Thailand is about to expire. They visited the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok but received no clear guidance on this process. Community members suggested that the simplest solution is to exit Thailand and re-enter to receive a new 180-day stamp, rather than trying to renew the current entry stamp. Some shared their experiences, mentioning that extensions are possible but can be cumbersome, thus encouraging a temporary exit instead. Several comments also highlighted the necessity of filing a 90-day report and suggested visiting the correct immigration office for applying for extensions.

First lesson in Thailand - follow the path of least resistance! Go on holiday to a neighbouring country - unless you like waiting in queues and getting told

Multiple different solutions to your problems!

1 - you have always been allowed to leave the country, 2 - you can leave and return the same day or some point in the future - at each entry you will get 180 days stamped in your passport, 3 - it is possible to extend upon timely application to Immigration - however it is sometimes necessary to resubmit all documents - many people find it easier to leave and return. 4 - You don't "renew" your entry stamp - you will get a new one (unless you were to get an extension). To summarize - the longest you can stay (without an extension) is 180 days - but you can leave before then - the next time you enter you will be given a new stamp for another 180 days. You can leave and return quickly - some people do it same day - in my case my work travel has been adequate for me not to need to leave for any other reason. Hope this helps. Please get better acquainted with the rules so you dont make mistakes because of ignorance - for instance have you filed your 90 day registration?

Leave and come back in, go for a holiday. You'll get stamped on the way back in.

Just leave Thailand into a neighbouring country, on or just before the date of your 180 day stamp. Come back into Thailand and get another 180 day stamp. Don’t forget you need to do 90 report

You can not renew a stamp in your passport.

What you can do is visit the Immigration Office and apply for a 180 day Extension of Stay, which will be added to your stay and than you can stay until September.

OR

leave Thailand get an exit stamp and come back when ever you want to get a NEW entry stamp

Okay, this interests me. Do you know which is the correct office we need to go to for the visa extension? We went to the Immigration Bureau and they sent us to another building, then to another office, and we finally gave up. If you have that information, it would be a great help. Thanks!

Simply fly out of the country, fly back in.

You don't need to do anything. Leave Thailand every 180 days and reenter.

That's all. Done. 😁

You dont need to ask to leave.. you leave.. at any time.

When you come back in again you will get another 6 month stamp.

In theory it is possible to obtain 1x 6 month extension on your 6 month entry, but the reality is they are making this very difficult for most people, so almost no one goes that route.
