Hello, for all who have applied and successfully added their spouse to their DTV, can you please say what the requirements are for the sponsor letter? 

Is there anything else required other than the usual (Cover letter was mentioned), do i need to show financial proof again, or anything from the business I work for to say about the dependant, or is my DTV enough?

Edit: to confirm, both I and my spouse need to upload banks statements?

Hi Claire, based on what we’ve seen from successful applications:

- You’ll need a sponsorship letter from yourself

- Proof of relationship (such as your marriage certificate)

The letter should clearly explain:

- Your reason for being in Thailand (DTV holder)

- That you can financially support both yourself and your spouse

- That your spouse will not be working in Thailand

For finances, the requirement is 1,000,000 THB total for two people. This can be shown entirely in your own account, so your spouse does not need to show separate funds.

Both applicants usually upload bank statements, but as long as the full amount is in your account, that has been accepted for dependent applications.

My wife is currently in Hanoi. She applied tueday and send 4 files. I will upload what we did. Her status change to pending approval next day. NO FURTHER DOCUMENTS WERE REQUESTED . Important you give her an sponsor letter as she will getting this visa under yours. I also have my own visa and included a recomendation letter from my business also. DONT FORGET TO ADD THE NO SEEKING LOCAL EMPLOYMENT PART and you should be fine

you need to apply once the first dtv is approved. For your wife only the 500k is required they dont care about any other financials. So if you use the same account have 1 million bath . If you use another account not the same you used for the main applicant than you can have 500k I applied on the 2nd and got it on the 8th. There were 2 thai holidays in between so my application was approved really fast in Hanoi. I will post a copy of it for your records . I anticipate my wife will get hers tomorrow she applied this tuesday. I will post it tomorrow if she gets approved . Good luck🙏

Hello,

Of course you have to show financial evidence again, and you may be requested to show 1 million bahts, depending on the embassy. Actually if you start completing the online form, you can see a list of required document in the last page.

Well even if you are not ready to apply, you can fill out the form to discover what documents they ask for.

There's no template for a sponsor letter. You need to add a sponsor letter only if the 500K is in a bank account in your name. If it's the case, just write something along the lines of "I will will pay for all my spouse's expenses during his/her stays in the kingdom, and he/she has no intention to work in Thailand".
