Thanks Luke. A friend of mine got a visa in Savannakhet with only a lease. I'll go for hotel and annoy my landlady next time :)

Vientiane does not require proof of funds. Immigration might. In which case it's cash. Can be other currency equivalent.

What did you provide as proof of lodging? I've been lead to believe that a condo lease will not suffice (copies of registration and owner id required.)
