Is a Thai tourist visa marked with 3 entries considered a multi-entry visa, and do I need to extend it after 60 days?

I just recieved a Thai tourist Visa in Bali at the Dempasar consulate. I am American. It says it is good till Nov 19 which is 3 months and it is marked 3 entries. does that mean it is multi entry ? will I still have to do an extension after 60 days ? No wait, 3 day turnover. great service by the way. 560,000 RPI

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American expat recently received a Thai tourist visa at the Dempasar consulate, valid until November 19 and marked as having 3 entries. There is confusion about whether this means it's a multi-entry visa or not since such visas are reportedly not issued anymore. Many commenters clarify that a 3-entry visa is no longer a standard offering, and that upon entry, the visa permits a stay of 60 days, which can potentially be extended for an additional 30 days.

Would it be possible for you to post a copy of this visa, editing the personal info?
Biff *******
Post a photo of it with your personal details blanked out?

Definitely a 3 not an S. I got stamped for 60 days upon entry. Next time I am at immigration I will ask them what that means.

Good point. but I think we sussed out that they paid for a single entry tourist visa and seeing as they're not a resident of Indonesia they didn't get a 3 entry tourist visa. ;)

I want to see a tourist visa in 2018 with three entries. Most likely though, it could also be that the OP is misreading the letter "S" as number "3".
Tod *********
and you are doubting they got the visa or do you want to see a tourist visa from bali for another reason?

What did you provide as proof of lodging? I've been lead to believe that a condo lease will not suffice (copies of registration and owner id required.)

All worked out. Thank you for the support!

Cheers Luke

Yeah, go for the hotel. Although Bali is a Consulate, and in theory Consulates should have lighter requirements, unfortunately they don't have a website with clear requirements, they are likely to follow Jakarta, and here's what Jakarta currently wants:

5. Evidence of confirmed accommodation in Thailand

- Hotel booking or

- Letter of sponsorship from the host (copy of the host's ID card, or passport and stay permit, proof of accomodation ownership)

Thanks Luke. A friend of mine got a visa in Savannakhet with only a lease. I'll go for hotel and annoy my landlady next time :)

Thomas Lindegaard Jensen Bear in mind the advice I provided on the other thread was what the Consulate guy said himself he was requesting at the time (2 years ago). It does not necessarily mean he will not close his eyes when it comes to a house book on a case to case basis, but most other embassies would at minimum request an ID copy of the owner or a sponsor letter etc, apart from the rental contract. These requirements can vary from day to day depending on the mood of a particular staff and they can change as the wind blows, so to avoid any speculation, a simple 7 day booking that is not paid for is a better and safer option. As long as on the application form you obviously complete the same address as the hotel where "you will be staying".

Your lease needs to have a photo copy of the landloards national ID or passport with their signature.
Thomas ********************
Yeah, that's the problem. I'll try the lease with a hotel booking as backup and post my experience.

you've probably been misinformed. I use my condo lease at 4 or 5 different consulates. never a problem. I believe you will need to have a signed photocopy of the landlord's passport attached.

@Elisa Cohen -- thank you for posting your experience. I have always wanted to do visa run to Bali, I have heard mixed review.

i already knew all of this stuff. I just did not understand the no. of entry being marked 3. I was also not clear on the valid dates. now i understand that it is valid for 3 months and good for a 60 day entry that can be extended. thanks

I saw somewhere it shows you have to show "Letter of Employment." Is that correct?

David Doyle you don’t need to live or work, or be any type of resident, to obtain a METV in Australia...as one example

David Doyle not always, Australia being one example

Picture with the prices Single Entry, Double Entry and Triple Entry did it for me. Not available for almost 3 years now. Did not even bother to read the rest.

@Tyson *******
no letter of employment necessary. just bank statement.

@Robert ******
yeah I understand. I see it says "last updated: 01 August 2018" so I figured it'd be somewhat reliable but I was just wondering about where it say "Letter of Employment" and if that's necessary. First time I've noticed that as part of the requirements for application

a Page with outdated information. As we see often on the www.

This is off the Jakarta thai consulate's website

Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa will only be granted to Indonesian nationals or applicants with KITAS or KITAP.

Application fee (Cash only in Indonesian Rupiah – Non-refundable):

- Single-Entry Tourist Visa: IDR 560,000*

- Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa: IDR 2,800,000
Tod *********
The price you paid show it's a the cost of a single entry tourist visa 560,000 is just over 1200baht
Ron *******
Have you by any chance got 2 or 3 previous tourist visas in your passport?
Ron *******
@Elisa ******
its not my concern or call. I'm stating imo, why your visa has been marked with 3 entry's. Its between you, the Embassy or consulate and immigration.

I am not working, own a home, have a nice bank balance in Thailand so as there are no restrictions on how much time you can spend in Thailand in one year, I don"t know why it is an issue. when I figure out my plan for the future I will acquire the necessary longterm Visa.
Ron *******
Elisa Cohen then i think that could be the mystery solved as to why your visa has been marked 3 entries. I'm guessing its highlighting the fact your living here or at least, spending too much time here on tourist visas and has highlighted the number you have previously.
Elisa *******

yes 3
Robert *******
3 entry visa does not exist anymore. But I waited on request and saw you told it was a three day turnover. On your Visa there is a line No of Entries, underneath normally the letter S from SIngle. You have 3 months time to enter Thailand and use this Visa. On entry you will get 60 days of stay, which can be Extended with another 30 days.
Paul *******
Very correct answer. Saves me posting.
Ellie *******
Royal Thai Honorary Consulate in Denpasar said "we don't issue any multiple entries visa" as of June 2018. I agree to others for you to post the photo of visa itself.
Clint *********
Please post a picture of the visa. As they dont offer a 3 entry visa any more
Glen *********
Multi-entry is not restricted to 3 entries...can you post a picture of the visa (delete sensitive personal data)
