Well, I'm not 100% certain. But he appreciated my (master card) statement showing the flight was paid for. That is not immediately apparent on the booking thing they send.

No, I booked a refundable via booking.com. Didn't have to show proof it was paid for. I did for the flight out of Thailand, though.

That was not my experience. Cf, the post. I showed "proof" that my ticket out of Thailand was paid for. The guy seemed to support that idea. But I can't say for certain if it's a requirement.
