Post edit: at 5.50pm I received an email... And got approved!!!! What a turn of events lol I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who replied.

Hello,

I'm worried because I applied in Cambodia for dtv remote work on April 9th. The latest update on the site is from the 10th and nothing since then. I know that songkran delayed things a bit but my visa in Cambodia lasts until the 6th of May and I'm getting super stressed about it.

I sent them a polite email on Monday to ask if any more documents were needed or if they needed me to come over to the ambassy in case they have questions but I didn't get any answers or updates on the site.

Not sure if there's anything else I can do rather than waiting but I feel lonely and overstressed at the moment and just want this to be ove as I'm getting tired of extending my hotel day by day. So I guess maybe if someone has some guidance or went through a similar situation can help that would ease my mind a lot

🙏

On the plus side I've only been treated by respect and friendliness by Cambodians here and feel really welcome so I'm grateful for this. But not be able to plan anything (I'm tired of the digital nomad life after 7 years and want to settle down in Thailand at least for the next 5 years) is giving me high anxiety.

I would encourage people to not go for extensions and stop asking about them and I’ll tell you why.

This is a special five year tourist visa and for some reason the Thai government does not want you staying there for a year straight whatever the reason may be, there’s a reason to make it so difficult to get an extension and when you applied for this you knew that you had to fly out every six months and you should’ve planned for that.

I know that the expats in Thailand are notorious for finding ways around the rules of the country and it’s almost kind of like an achievement to them, but the thing is you’re going to ruin this visa for us if you keep trying to push for things like bank accounts on this visa that you’re not supposed to have or extensions that they don’t want to grant you quite clearly, because you are not a resident you are a tourist that’s why we don’t get a residence card.

Yeah, you can kind of treat it like a five year residency, but there is a reason an unwritten reason why they want you to leave every six months and it was baked into the visa and the more people who go for extensions and find ways to get them are going to piss off the people in the ministry and the immigration to where they might just stop letting us in one day , they can do whatever they want with this visa, they can tell us to leave, so you know, pushing the envelope all the time isn’t always the greatest thing and there’s no gain in getting extension except for you save a little bit of money and a little bit of time But in all reality you should’ve planned to leave every six months anyways, so I really get tired of seeing the extension post over and over and over again because I know that it’s going to put an end into this visa and possibly our time on it because even though it says it’s granted for five years, they don’t have to honor it.

Hello guys,

I have a question. I plan on living in Thailand and pay taxes there. I work as a freelancer and have a German ID but live in Spain at the moment. Right now I can't fulfill all requests for the DTV visa. Is it possible to apply for a tourist visa and after 60/90 days I leave the country and return after a few days with a new tourist visa ti stay again 60/90 days. Of course I have to be aware of being more than 180 days per year in Thailand to pay taxes there. Would that be a problem? Is it possible to apply for more than one tourist visa per year? Or will they stop me from entering again?

I plan on applying for the DTV as soon as possible so that would only be a solution for a limited time.

I plan on taking my wife with me so we would be two person every time.

Thank you for your advice and tips

David
