Anyone familiar with how one goes about reapplying Non-Immigrant R (religion) visa for ordained monastics once it's no longer extendable after 5 or 10 years extension (depending on what country's passport you hold) and do they set any limit as to how many times it can be reapplied (if not lifetime?).

Also, is it true one doesn't necessarily have to have Non-Imm R visa to become a monk in Thailand just like one doesn't necessarily have to have Non-Imm B to work in Thailand (I was told so by immigration official at Chaeng Wattana)? I don't think you can be a monk under Non-Imm B, but how about retirement visa or under Thailand Elite program?

Hello all,

stayed in Thailand this year on a METV from January until July (6 months). Planning to come back in November on a SETV.

Is there any valid reason that immigration could pull me over or should that not be the case since I stayed out of Thailand for over 3 months?

(one immigration officer some time ago told me: staying out of Thailand for min 3 month gives no space to assume one living in Thailand as a Tourist anymore... ?)

Hi, can someone clarify please. I have my 12 month retirement visa now which is valid from 22/09/24 to 22/09/25. I didn’t get a 90 day reporting slip but I have a slip in my visa for notification of residency which is on 10/11/24 (a Sunday!)

Is this different to the 90 day reporting? Does anyone know if I just go to the main immigration office in hua hin in blue port top floor or the smaller one in the basement and what documents do I need to take. TIA

Just after a little confirmation regarding TM30. I arrived in Thailand yesterday (29th of October) on a 90 day O visa with the intention of applying for my full retirement visa. I just want to clarify if I still need to report to immigration to complete a TM30 within a certain period of arriving even though my address is exactly the same as what I applied with for on the 90 day visa on the Thai embassy portal. I’m just concerned as I don’t want to risk anything but I’ve not been feeling great after a very long journey and zero sleep and the prospect of another long drive to the nearest immigration office.

Thanks.

I applied for the DTV visa in Germany (digital nomad), and they’re asking for my 2022 and 2023 tax returns. I haven’t submitted the 2023 return yet, so I can only upload the 2022 return. Should I just upload that one and note that the 2023 return can’t be provided at this time?

My flight is in one month, and I won’t have the 2023 tax return by then. I’ve tried calling multiple times but haven’t been able to reach anyone. Thanks for the help!

Hey everyone,

I’m a German citizen and have been spending several months a year in Thailand since 2021, always entering with a tourist visa or the 30-day visa exemption. I’ve never had any issues with entry before, always arriving by plane.

Last week, I took a short trip to Vietnam as my tourist visa had expired and tried to re-enter Thailand using the new 60-day visa exemption. But this time, immigration pulled me aside, pointing out that staying too long as a tourist is an issue. I had to fill out a form (attached) and show proof of an onward flight before they finally stamped my passport with 60 days.

I always thought there weren’t any limitations for entry by plane, so this was totally unexpected. The officer spoke very little English, and I couldn’t get a clear answer about the issue. Interestingly, I wasn’t the only one pulled aside—others around me seemed to be facing similar questions.

Has anyone else experienced something like this recently?

Good afternoon everyone.

I did a research here on previous posts about the METV, my visa application just got granted and wanted to make sure few things before I fly to Thailand in order to plan my entries well. If I have understood correctly, with the METV:

1) Every time you land in Thailand you are getting STAMPED on your passport (60 days + 30 if you extend at local IO) - I’m asking this because my passport is running out of pages.

2) If arriving a day before the “valid until” date, you are still eligible to be stamped 60 days - I’m asking these to be clear if what mentioned in previous posts is still the general rule.

Thanks again for your kind help, if you don’t wanna post this, I would just appreciate your kind advice, as you all have been very helpful throughout these years. ขอบคุณมากครับ

Not sure if anyone has posted this specific enquiry but here goes: when completing the online application (will submit once in country I am applying from) as you can only submit the passport main pages, how do you prove the Visa entry stamp in the country which you’re applying from? I intend to go to Ho Chi Minh & apply there.

TIA
