I came on a tourist visa last April knowing I was emigrating. They asked me when I was returning at the emirates check in desk, and I said I had just retired so was touring around Asia but didn’t have a particular schedule so was booking as I went along. The lady was very nice and just said “how exciting and good luck - enjoy your retirement”. I was lucky I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Thank you for your replies.

I have another question.

I just found out my mum passed away yesterday and have to fly back to the uk next week which will be 6 days before my reporting date.

Will it be possible to notify early?

my partner did not have the credit advice from the bank to show his money had come from overseas as I had transferred it from my bkk bank account. Immigration said they would not accept his documents but then made me confirm that we could not get the credit advice from the bank and did not have another 800,000 overseas to transfer. When I confirmed she said she’s “speak to her boss” and then said his visa will cost 11,000 bht instead of 2,000 bht! We had no choice but to pay. 🙁
