Is it acceptable to submit only the 2022 tax return when applying for the DTV visa in Germany?

I applied for the DTV visa in Germany (digital nomad), and they’re asking for my 2022 and 2023 tax returns. I haven’t submitted the 2023 return yet, so I can only upload the 2022 return. Should I just upload that one and note that the 2023 return can’t be provided at this time?

My flight is in one month, and I won’t have the 2023 tax return by then. I’ve tried calling multiple times but haven’t been able to reach anyone. Thanks for the help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a DTV visa in Germany and needs to submit tax returns for 2022 and 2023. However, they can only upload the 2022 return as the 2023 return is not ready before their flight. Community members suggest submitting what is available and including a note explaining the delay, with some sharing their own experiences regarding tax submission difficulty.

Actually your tax return is overdue. Deadline for 23 was August 31. Will not make the best impression but good luck.

I didn't have to turn my tax papers in.(Frankfurt)

Perhaps they think there is something fishy about your documents.

Thanks for your answer! Do you think that a confirmation of submission from the tax office is enough? Not even the full tax return?

Possibly try sending 2021 with 2022 and a covering note explaining these are the two most recent available. You will send 2023 as soon as possible.

Provide what you have and explain clearly your situation in like a cover letter.

If your flight comes before you are approved it's ok you can still go to Thailand and will get 60 days.

Then you will have to leave Thailand and come back and then they will stamp you as DTV
