Hello

I want to apply for the Wealthy Pensioner LTR Visa. I meet the requirements, but not clear on what documentation I should provide for proof of income. I am a US citizen. I am thinking providing my 2024 form 1040 tax return with the pension section highlighted and my 2024 1099s for my pensions. Make sense? Good plan? Appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thank you.

Is it mandatory to include two years of personal or business tax returns for DTV visa applicants who are business owners? I plan to apply in Ho Chi Minh City. My 2 businesses tax returns for the past two years show losses because I run an online retail business and reinvest profits into inventory without loans or debt. I also claim owner's distributions; my wife and I have a combined monthly income feom business of approximately $5,000. Will these losses stated in my tax returns negatively affect my DTV visa approval?

I own two companies in Japan and the US, and I am also an individual investor. Do I need to submit all of my income for the DTV application, not just proof of dividends from my individual investments?

So I’m about to stay 6 months in Thailand, previously was here for 3 on tourist visa. What is everybody’s thoughts regarding becoming a tax resident after 180 days? It’s this huge issue that’s lingering over my head and it’s stopping me from enjoying myself because I’m paranoid about future tax complications.

So far there’s no clear answers or guidelines for anything, which makes it even more confusing. Has anyone gone to the tax office or tried to register for tax ID? How is everyone going to deal with this?

If anyone has any insight or experience with trying to work this out with officials would be interested in hearing your thoughts

As a freelancer, do the asked for documents include tax returns? Being a remote, digital nomad, this isn't always possible. Or is this only for US citizens applying in the US?

Hello all....

I'll be applying for the DTV from Vietnam next week and have a few questions about the process.

I have worked abroad for a long time and have moved around an awful lot so I haven't been liable to pay tax anywhere. I have read that many folks are being asked to provide tax returns.

Has anyone successfully applied for and been granted the DTV without being asked for evidence of paying tax? I, of course have the funds in the bank and have done so for at least six months.

I am an English tutor that works online and is self-employed.

Would it be better for me to mention up-front on my cover letter that I am unable to provide evidence of tax returns or wait for them to ask?

I'd appreciate any info.

Thank you!

I saw quite a few folks here requested to provide the most recent tax return as additional supporting documentation. Now it’s 2025 Jan and technically I should prepare 2024 tax return but haven’t been able to collect all info needed yet. In this case can we use 2023 tax return?
