Apply for an International Driving Licence at home. Officially it is valid in Thailand for 3 months. If you stay longer you'd better check for a Thai Driving Licence. Immigration....Medical Certificate and some small tests at the Department for Land and Transport (DLT).

Citizens of 93 countries receive a 60-days stamp each time they enter Thailand. After that, you can extend your stay in Thailand for another 30 days (1900 THB at each immigration). If you want to stay longer, you can repeat this procedure if you leave Thailand for at least 24 hours.
