YES ! Don't worry. Keep your old passport. Show both when you re-enter the country and have the stamps tranferred on the new passport at the immigration where you stay.

2 years ago the visa exempt was 45 days. If the Royal Gazette will publish new rules (60 days), then it makes no sense to buy a simple tourist visa.
