Trying to decide what visa to apply for. Us passport. I want to consult with an agent. One agent quoted me 3000 bht for 30 min consultation. Seems a bit pricey. Anyone know good, honest, reasonable agent I can consult with?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US passport holder is seeking advice on which visa to apply for in Thailand and whether consulting a visa agent is necessary. The initial comment mentions the cost (3000 baht for a 30-minute consultation) and questions the necessity of hiring an agent. Several responses suggest that obtaining visa information can be done independently through research, with comments discussing different visa types such as Non-O and retirement visas, as well as offering alternatives for assistance. The overall consensus emphasizes weighing the cost of consulting an agent against the ability to self-navigate visa options.

I really don't want to be rude here, but these questions have been asked and answered interminably. Searching on this particular site would give you your answer many times over. You gave no mention of your financial situation or age until asked later. If you can't help yourself, even a little bit, moving here might be a bigger challenge than you bargained for, given the requirements to live peacefully without IO problems.
you'd pay $90 to hear what's tomorrow's weather going to be? How many lots of $90 do you frivolously spend each day or each week? I can give you my PayPal and you're welcome to throw away a few 90s in my direction. Lol. Mr Money. Nice. You think thrifty people are broke or mentally impaired?
hypocrites. Always everything is “peanuts”. Same people wouldn't GIVE you a fright if they were a ghost!....u can peel an orange in yr pocket i imagine? lol
he simply wants to know what his visa options are. Why should he pay $80 to be given the options even before he gets to the fees and charges for the visa. It's a bit condescending to talk down to people who are a bit careful when approaching unknown agents. I guess you're constantly giving big money to strangers in return for nothing?
THE ANSWER IS COME TO THAILAND GET 60 DAYS FREE THEN EXTEND ANOTHER 30 DAYS FOR 1900 BAHT at IMMIGRATION OFFICE. NO AGENT NEEDED AND DEFINITELY DON'T INSULT MEMBERS SEEKING INFORMATION
Thailand immigration wants people to use thai agents .it's a win win for them.my advice is find an agent and have a smooth application process.and I repeat if your worried about 3000 baht your going to struggle because it ain't that much and it's worth.sometimes being frank upsets people
your opinion only. I wouldn't throw away 3k for information available on Google and believe me I have plenty. I just saw a,video on fb....founder and owner of Ikea was worth 58 billion dollars. Died age 91. Used to take salt n pepper packs from restos and always got his hair cut in developing countries. Never ever flew business class and drove a 15 yr old Volvo. On your reckoning he couldn't afford to live in Thailand. That's because you think it's virtuous to pay money in return for fresh air. Other more careful people also have an opinion ok. We the careful wealthy people disagree with your bullshit condescending attitude towards thrift.
so you chose to live in Thailand because of the cheap cost of living.my point is if you live in Thailand because of the cheap cost of living and you think 3000 baht is alot, maybe you will struggle.the rich tightarse people aren't what I was talking about.plus some people will make mistakes.i look forward to your long winded reply making the same point sgain
Greg I'm sorry you have problems to understand simple things. I'll try one last time. 3000 is chicken shit if im buying a big ticket item ..electrical goods car or a condo. You don't understand it's a huge amount to pay for information that's freely available. Would a,diagram help you?
thanks Dave I’m in Thailand now for 60. Then to Vietnam and come back for another 60. It’s like you said I just want to speak to an agent to access my best option for a visa. Mahalo
Was it a lawyer that does visas?? I've sat in numerous visa agents offices, discussing my options, and never been charged for advice, the visa you apply for depends on your age, and financial situation to meet visa requirements, find out all your options, and then decide if you want to do it yourself, or get a visa agent to assist you.
Why do you need an agent to help you? Normally a visa agent has contacts in immigration for a specific type of visa. So for every situation that visa is going to be their solution.
