I have been asked for proof of onward/return travel even with a visa. In Luanda, Amsterdam and LHR,( granted this all happened over 10 years ago). A visa does not guarantee you entry into a country, If the airline feels that there is a risk, they are within their rights to deny you boarding.
My paperwork never changes, same every year so just photocopied. then only thing I need to get is embassy letter verifying my pension which is easy to do and takes a week. 90 day report is a nice motorbike ride once every three months. As for things going sour, most men lose their asses anyway in UK and other "advanced" countries.
It worked for me three times out of the 5 times I tried it , so 60%. However its a nice motorbike ride out to immigration where I live and the in person report usually only takes me 5-10 minutes.
Unfortunately the archaic and chaotic Thai system of addressing is to blame for this requirement for a map to your residence. I often wonder how Thai post manage so well.
Yui Tipa Smith The last time I did this I think it took several days to get a reply, and I emailed them again to make sure they had received the documents and they were all in order. It may be that they wait until they get confirmation from Thai embassy London before contacting you again.
Jordan Harris The procedure at Hull UK now, is to send copies of all documents by email to Hull. They then forward to Thai Embassy London who will reply yea or nay, then and only then you travel to the consulate at hull with your passport and original documents and they will stamp the visa into your passport.
I had to get one several years ago when applying for my Brazilian WP. At that time I went to the RTP HQ building at Rama I road in Bangkok. My clearance was posted back to me around 12 days later.
Me either after 36 years of world wide travel. Having said that I always had a print out of my ticket (after they stopped paper tickets) and itinerary along with reference numbers. As
says, err on the side of caution. A ship mate of mine was almost refused transit through LHR because he had not printed out his ticket or reference, luckily another of our crew had printed the whole list and the problem was resolved.
