They then forward to Thai Embassy London who will reply yea or nay, then and only then you travel to the consulate at hull with your passport and original documents and they will stamp the visa into your passport.

You do not need to surrender your old passport in BKK while you are waiting for a new one. Also you do not apply for a new passport at the British embassy in Bangkok, you apply at UK Visa Application Centre
