unfortunately that seems to be an issue, not just for immigration. I have had my fingerprints and details done twice at exactly the same desk in the police headquarters, second time my record only had 9 prints because I had cut a finger on a seat bracket in the waiting room. Since they already had me on the system it seems pointless. A bit like the photos at immigration, they want x amount of photos and what do they do before they give you your extension? They take your photo EVERY TIME YOU GO THERE! I reckon their computers are running DOS 3.1 so they can't store anything for more than a week๐คฃ๐คฃ
actually he is probably quite right. I am not on a retirement visa, I have a non b and WP but due to the schools being closed down and my agent not being able to find me a suitable placement I have been having to exist solely on my pension. A pension, by the way, that is worth less and less due to the Thai government keeping the baht so high and the pound going up and down like a Portsmouth hookers knickers on a Saturday night. Without my pension I would have been faced with not having enough money to stay in Thailand and not enough money to get home. So yes, Steve Barsalou has a valid point.
when I first came here and was having to do border bouncing while I waited for the papers to get my Non B for work I did 2 Kanchanuri runs and then flew out to Vietnam and had 2 days there then came back on an exemption and got a grilling by customer who told me that no, I could not do 2 flights and 6 border bounces (as the government says, you can only do one border bounce, after that you have to go out for 1 month before you come back. Their own staff don't know/don't want to follow their own legislation before Covid, can't see they'll be any more helpful now. All the confusion will just make a lovely cash cow for the IO's at airports and land crossings "no, cannot do...well.... maybe way to do but expensive ๐๐๐"
yep, and as they are all packing into the airport they'll be in close proximity to all those Thais coming back from Saudi and everywhere who are being found to be infected each day. Good plan that๐
Don't know about Laos but I used to do the border run by minivan to Myanmar. First trip we actually went into Myanmar for an hour then back, second trip we stayed at the crossing point and the agents did everything then we went across the road and walked back in. Not sure any of the border crossings are open for that at the moment though, I thinks it's just cargo getting through. If they open the borders for Visa runs it depends where you are in Thailand whether you go to Laos, Cambodia or Myanmar. There are visa agencies that do the run, I think it was pretty cheap as far as I remember. As I said though, nothing is open now or will be for quite some time to come to enable you to do that.
How hard can this be to understand? Yes, you can apply for the CoE BEFORE booking the ASQ, YES, the CoE can be approved before booking the ASQ but you CANNOT GET the CoE until the ASQ booking has been made. So you cannot physically GET the CoE until you have an ASQ booked. Just because the embassy has the CoE doesn't mean you have it, ergo, before you can receive the CoE you have to have the booking for the ASQ.
yes, and at that point you send details of flights, ASQ booking and insurance etc. then they issue the certificate. So, before you actually receive the CoE you must book the ASQ. If you don't they won't forward the CoE. Just because it is approved by BKK does not mean the embassy will issue it until you send them all the other booking confirmations and paperwork.
yes, and in the UK you HAVE to have the ASQ before they will issue the CoE once it has been approved. The OP wanted to know if they have to have the ASQ booked before they get the CoE and, in the UK at least, the answer is yes.
