Why do you have to take your fingerprints multiple times at the police headquarters in Bangkok?

Just looking for info here. Exactly how many times does the same office at the police headquarters in Bangkok have to take your fingerprints? I had to get them done twice last year for some reason and now being told I need them done again because I have changed jobs.

Surely if I am on the RTP system I'm on it and there is no need to keep adding me again and again.

Does anyone know if any way of checking I am on their system so I can avoid taking time off work to travel all the way to Bangkok from Phetchaburi ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question pertains to the requirement of taking fingerprints multiple times at the Bangkok police headquarters for various immigration and visa-related processes. The user expresses frustration over having to submit fingerprints again after changing jobs despite being on the RTP system. Comments from other users provide insights into the purpose of fingerprinting for identity verification and the bureaucratic nature of the Thai immigration process, indicating that many expats share the same frustrations regarding the need for repeated submissions of fingerprints and paperwork.

In any foreign country where you need to do a police clearance you need to do finger prints each time.

Great, so 6 hours in a minibus just to give them my fingerprints AGAIN. Can't see why it can't be done at a local station. There is a highway Police headquarters 400m from my house. What, the Thai police don't have an intranet for passing info from one station to another? Ridiculous. All so I can turn up, with my passport (!!) at the labour office. Seems a complete waste if time having biometric systems if they can't speak to each other. Ah well, TIT, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing half a**Ed and as complexly as possible.

I feel for you I think the Thais are idiots with their finger printing. Earlier this year they did it when I arrived at BKK. 60 days later I needed to do a bounce into Myanmar and then back to Thailand. They took my fingerprints on the way out and again 20 minutes later on the way back. The only reason it was ,20 minutes was the length of the lineup. I was in Myanmar for maybe 2 minutes.

The same applies to the annual extension of the visa. We have to bring them the same papers year after year. I wonder where they store them.

As for fingerprints, do they at least offer finger cleaning liquids? ๐Ÿ˜‚
