Maybe a bit late but today I transfered some money to my kasikorn bank, and the option "funds for long stay etc..." was there. In 4 days I transfer to my Bangkok bank and will look if it is registered 'international' as before. I did not see some post that it's back 🤷♂️ Just to let you know.
By the way, IF you have Thai baht already, the max is 500,000฿. But that's only posible when you bought so much Baht in another country ofcourse, which doesn't seem smart to me.
Indeed, but that also has a max. I'm Dutch and then it is 10.000€. For USD I thought it's 20.000 dollar. Many times these are also the limits (without reporting before, because then there in no limit) from the country you come from. And yes, they almost never check but...........
Think checking with BKK imm. Office is the best advice. Maybe also ask Tod Daniels from the group Thai Visa Advice. He is very connected to imm. BKK. I have a fixed deposit account at Kasikorn only to get a real mastercard. When I asked "can I put the money back to my savings account?" they told me, "no problem, but you lose the intrest".
Think those thoughts slip to the mind of us elderly.
Well, no experience yet fortunately, and also my thoughts cannot be for "whole Thailand" but it's also a question "what do you need". I think/hope y'r partner would take care of some basic things, like cooking, cleaning (house), washing etc. and maybe even go to immigration when needed. If that is difficult because e.g. partner is working, then I would ask someone to do those basic things. Think you can have someone for a couple of hours per day for 300-500฿ a day ? So then there is some money involved per month (about 12,000-14,000฿ a month ? Depending where you live, this is already a nice salary for many who e.g. work in a factory). But....you have to be able to afford it of course. And, as already mentioned, there are elderly/ nursery homes but they cost a lot and not so many of us can pay that.
If you are getting mental issues, then it's getting serious. I think, if there is a bit of 'thinking' left, I would not like to live anymore, but euthanasia is officially not allowed over here. So that part I don't know how I would handle that.
Those are just my thoughts a bit. But you never really know how you react when the problem is really there.
Ofcourse as already mentioned 'money talks' so if you have enough, the problems most of the time, are a bit more easy.
So far, the treaty between the Netherlands and Thailand, gives the oportunity, to pay tax only in Thailand and then you don't have to pay tax in the Netherlands anymore. Which is a lot more favorable. In the Netherlands you can prove that you have paid tax in Thailand by a form RO22, which you can get at a revenue office in Thailand after paying.
