Good morning Wise has removed option long term stay when transfering money to Thailand. Sent emails but get useless reply for support.
Any idea what option to choose now.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users are expressing frustration over Wise's removal of the long-term stay option for money transfers to Thailand. They are seeking alternative options that still classify as international transfers for visa purposes. Many suggest using options like 'buying property' or 'personal expenses' as potential workarounds, even though some have noted that these also often result in international transfers. Other services such as Remitly, MoneyGram, and Revolut are mentioned as alternatives, and users are discussing their experiences with various labels when sending money and how these affect visa processes.

WISE is getting worse. Different people there give different responses. Also, I keep asking them how can they tell me my TRANSFER will take X number of days when I haven’t selected my METHOD OF PAYMENT yet, plus last 2 transfers, a few days later they send me an EMAIL stating my money will arrive with them in 3 days and I say, after talking with both banks, I use, that is BS.

Use your banks SWIFT if you’re not able to risk it.

Hi sent option other did not show foreign transfer on bank statement
Maybe a bit late but today I transfered some money to my kasikorn bank, and the option "funds for long stay etc..." was there. In 4 days I transfer to my Bangkok bank and will look if it is registered 'international' as before. I did not see some post that it's back 🤷♂️ Just to let you know.
If it’s not showing up as international will that mean it can’t be used to tax the account holder ?
I hope that makes sense

I have tried three options after contacting Wise and getting my Bangkok bank account tagged. It seems other has worked for some but not for me. I will use personal expenses for my next transfer for Visa purposes as I do not intend to buy a house.
Interestingly the other transfer took a few seconds while the other two took 24 hours to show in my account,

I have used either personal expenses (used to be general monthly expenses) or rent and other property expenses. Never had a problem with this showing up as international transfer into Bangkok Bank. I did have a problem a couple of years back when I initially transferred to SCB because apparently it arrives into SCB as a local transfer. BKK Bank no problem whatever the label is

Choose anything you want, what does it matter as long as the money arrives, I always choose sending home to family.

When transferring directly from my Danish bank a/c to Kasikorn Bank savings account the transaction is labeled ‘Trade Finance Deposit’ will that be interpreted as intl transfer?
XE has worked well but transfers rarely show as international.

Torfx is another option, you get your own customer service manager.

I used the "personal expenses" option yesterday and it's arrived in my bank today with "international funds transfer"

Do people have experience with MoneyGram?

In my experience, every selection (buying property, school expenses, monthly living expenses, medical, etc.) results in an international transfer. I've tried every one and use Wise 2-4 times a month for years. Always shows as International.

am i right to think the reason doesnt matter unless you need it to show as international for the 65k retirement or have plans to send it back out of thailand?
Its funny most people comment one service is better than the other, but never comment on the rate they are getting—where the institution actually makes its money

It's all been explained in the Wise Facebook group.

I believe you contact wise and have them change your account use a wire transfer for your inbound money in to Thailand as default .
that will result in a US $33.80 subtracted from your incoming transfer. Been there, done that twice last month as I couldn't wait 6-7 days for the transfer. Now it seems they are back to 24 hours transfer time.

Why oh why, have they removed the long term option. They know its needed for people who use it for visas, just can't understand why they've removed it.
mine was also tagged 2 years ago but now that the long term stay option has been removed I would advise you to get it tagged again as I did yesterday. It seems that there may be a connection between the tag and the option chosen.
that's no longer an option. Anyway, 'general monthly expenses' probably, or might not have shown up as an "International transfer", which is necessary for those living in Thailand on long term Visa Extensions.
"general monthly expenses" and "personal expenses" likely would be the same, which wouldn't be an issue for general day to day expenses. Whether "personal expenses" shows up in your Thai bank account as an 'International transfer', well maybe you can let the group know. The point of the original post, is that the option "Funds for long term stay", which shows that the transfer came from overseas once in the Thai Bank account, where the other options didn't, is necessary when applying for Visa Extensions for those living long term in Thailand.
Credittcard to credittcard 2.5 dollar to send 5000 dollar...take 2 min from Norway to Cambodia card.you are welcome

guys if you want I can recommend app called jamjang they support Revolut and doing transfers themselves but you need to contact them on case by case basis 0.5% cheaper than wise new company from Australia but growing fast. Also no need to open Thai bank account when pay with prompt pay
I would think the Bank Transfer’s would cost less for the simple fact that you get a better exchange rate if you transfer into a Thai bank and make sure the thai bank does the exchange

Revolut is better. Than is depending from Thai bank less 50.000 bath very fast over
yes yes of course - but some on the non-o has to show immigration that the monthly transfer is an international transfer - it's not a matter of just sending money
but if you show the transfer of the money from your a/c of revolut bank is not an international transfer?

Wise told me to use other but told others to use "buying property". I used "Other" and it came through yesterday as international transfer. People who used "buying property" also say it came through correctly marked as international transfer.

Funds for long term stay in Thailand is been put back in the option section
yes they do. If you are a Thai tax resident and bring assessable income over 120k baht into Thailand you are required to register for a tax number and complete a tax return
the rate is 43.67 though. Strange that wise are giving false information isn't it. They are also on UK cashback websites and transfer funds in minutes. Better
- do you do a full comparison with Wise or others at the point of transfer using the live rates because that's the only way to tell. Fees are high for Wise hence companies like Revolut top then but most of us have stayed loyal to Wise ONLY because it did show up as in international transfer thus avoiding hassle proving this with Immigration. If it's now going to be more difficult then we do need to look at competitive alternatives so what's the fees and do you make a proper comparison?
NOTE : Someone yesterday showed a Wise transfer using option to buy property and it was saying it would take about a week!
