Just been Laos, Nong Khai, Thailand to Vientane. Have spent a couple of days in Laos and went back. No problem at all.

Last crossing was last March and going there every year. Next one is December. Also staying Laos couple of days. Never had any issue. Things can change but I won't panic about this border. And to be safe stay a couple of nights.

Cash, Wise, Revolut, ATM, Remitly, TrueMoney wallet for online shopping, enough options to survive without a Thai bank. I pay rent with Revolut at the moment.
