What should I consider when changing my nationality and applying for a Thai visa?

I have DTV but I’m considering changing nationality which in my case means canceling my old one. I suppose next I will just need to re-apply with the new passport.

I’m curious if anyone has had any experience.

You won't be able to get the Thai passport with the DTV, if this is what you mean. What is your current passport?

For getting this particular one, I have to get rid of the previous passports. Then, I can get more.

Anonymous participant I would imagine that it won’t be a major issue to reapply. You already have the paperwork the only additional would be letter explaining nationality change and old/new passports and acceptance of NEW nationality. If it got refused I’d be very surprised.

Anonymous participant Changing your nationality is not a light decision. You must have been thinking about this for a bit. If so, why did you go ahead in the last few months and get a DTV?

Thailand launched a good visa and I applied :)

Passport paperwork takes years

Anonymous participant - ok, since you said you are “considering” changing nationalities and you say the paperwork takes years, maybe your DTV will be expired by the time you are able to change nationalities. I assumed you were much farther along in my first message.

The new nationality has been approved, so I’m considering my next move. Thanks!

Just new passport -> new visa doesn’t sound bad. Could have been more legwork

Anonymous participant if you only change passports then you can transfer the visa to the new one.

If you have to renounce your citizenship that you got your dtv on in order to get new citizenship then you need to apply again as your old citizenship will no longer exist.
