Here is my story on how I applied for DTV through Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo (Sri Lanka) : [members only]

This is how I applied for Thailand Destination Visa (DTV) From Sri Lanka under Workcation category: Refer [members only] for more info.

I’m a Sri Lankan living in Chiang Mai. I got an ED visa last year, which I can use until this December. I wanted to apply for the DTV soon, so I came back to Sri Lanka on 31st October. I gathered the following documents and submitted them on the eVisa portal.

Financial Proof:

• Bank balance confirmation letter: Final balance as of 3rd November.

• Pay slips: Last 6 months.

• Bank statements (salary account): Last 6 months.

• Bank statements (savings account): I only had the 500,000 THB+ balance for the last 2 months. There was no money there before.

Work Profile:

• I wrote a cover letter about my situation (I’m a software developer working remotely for a foreign company, and I’ve been to other Southeast Asian countries as a digital nomad).

• Attached my professional agreement letter with my employer and included their contact emails for verification if needed.

Payment:

• The fee is 120,000 LKR, equivalent to 14,000 THB. (Not sure why it’s higher than usual.)

Timeline:

• Application Submission: 5th Nov, 6:30 p.m. (IST)

• Document Request: Received email on 6th Nov, 3:30 p.m., asking to upload all pages of my passport.

• Passport Upload: Uploaded on 6th Nov, 11:30 p.m. (Creating a PDF under 3MB while retaining image quality for 33 images was tricky.)

• Interview Request: Received email on 7th Nov, 11:00 a.m., asking to visit the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo for an interview on 8th Nov, 10:00 a.m.

• Interview: I went with hardcopies of all my documents (bank statements, offer letter, etc.). (It was a casual conversation — I think they just wanted to confirm I was in the country.)

• Visa Approval: Received on 8th Nov, 11:30 a.m.

Interview Summary:

There was no one else at the embassy. The officer asked me why I wanted this visa. I explained that I’m a digital nomad and have been traveling in Southeast Asia for the past few years. I mentioned I’d wanted this visa since it was announced.

• He asked how long I’d been in Thailand; I said 15 months on a student visa.

• He asked what I was doing there, and I explained I was learning Thai and living there.

• He asked about where I stayed, and I said mostly in Chiang Mai, though I’d visited the south as well.

• He reminded me I’m not allowed to earn money in Thailand, to which I replied that I understood.

• He asked if I had any family there, and I said no.

He took all the hardcopies and informed me that I’d receive the result via email.

Everything was pretty fast, with no major issues.

Husband got DTV today after almost six working days. Applied in Vietnam. Probably would be shorter process if you could upload everything at once, but they asked for documents separately so we just gave them only what they needed. Tonight we're doing my tag along DTV.

Hi all ! Just wanted to share back my experience about my DTV application (and a successful one 🥳) in case it can help someone here.

I am french, sole owner of my company, I applied for workcation as freelancer, at the embassy of Hanoi, Vietnam.

Applied as soon as I passed immigration at Hanoi's airport, added my passport stamp with the booking of my hotel to the website, everything else was already uploaded and saved, validated, and payed arround 3pm Monday 28th of October.

I believe the next morning (tuesday 29/10), the website was showing "Pending approuval" and it was the case until Tuesday the week after, when it got approuved at 9:50am (05/11) 🥳. It took 7 working days counting the day I applied and the day I received it.

No extra document were requested, it was simple, but a bit stressful to wait, and check the website regurlarly.

I saw someone give that advice on this goup, and I have to agree and give the same one. Save yourself some stress, and book yourself a week even though you could have it in less 😊

Documents I gave :

- Passport + identity picture

- Stamp of entry in Vietnam + booking of my hotel

- Document signed by my bank confirming in english that I had more than 500 000 THB on one of my banking account + a monthly from 2 months ago of that banking account

- A PDF document with on the first page a summary of the documents inside the pdf, which were :

- Letter to explain nature of sole proprietorship business, with links to my website, YouTube channel, Instagram, and LinkedIn profile

- English translation of my website (screenshots translated on Deepl)

- 1 invoice in french and english

- Document of ownership of sole proprietorship business in french and english

- Tax certificate of 2023 of my company in french and english

- August 2023 Turnover in french and english

Hope it can help someone :)

I remember when this group started, there was someone that was putting together a spreadsheet of all the consulates and qualifying documents for them to approve the DTV.

Did anyone end up doing that?

Any experience with applying at a in-person-consulate (or even eVisa) while an eVisa application is still in progress? I'm at a point with my eVisa application where I can't supply certain documents and I can't find a cancellation option online. Can I just leave it open or try to contact the consulate to cancel it first?

DTV in Taipei for Remote Worker - approved!

I went yesterday to the Thai consulate in Taipei. Arrived around 9.30am. I had 4 people in front of me applying for the DTV and had to wait a while til my turn. It seemed like they spoke to everyone for 20 - 30 min.

When it was finally my turn, luckily it went quick, she looked through all my papers.

I recommend you have a conversion app open on your phone as she asked me to convert the amounts on my bank statements into THB and write it down.

This is exactly what I provided:

1. Passport

2. Visa application form from their website

3. Recent color photo with white background 3,5 x 4,5cm

4. Financial evidence of more than 500k THB on personal bank account (your name must be visible)

5. Letter of Employment (written by myself in my company name and signed by me)

6. Documents of my LLC formation in the US - she checked if my name is on it.

7. Letter from the IRS with my EIN - again she looked for my name on it

8. Freelance work contract with my main client, stating I can work remotely and my client lives outside of Thailand

9. Recent invoices I have sent to clients from the past few months

10. Transactions of my business bank account from the past few months, matching the recent invoices as incoming payments

11. Print out of my website, showcasing my freelance services.

I'm fully aware that I probably delivered more than asked on the website and I'm so glad I did.

She took all my papers and said come back at 3.30pm. I went back in the afternoon to hear it was approved, paid the 11k TWD in cash, and today I returned to pick up my passport with the DTV. Needless to say, I'm soooo happy!

Thanks to this group for all the advice, it helped me a lot to prepare for this.

I highly recommend to bring more than suggested on the website. I talked with 2 other people and they were also asked to show bank transactions of incoming payments and invoices or paystubs. Definitely bring some along if you apply in the workation category.

If you want to apply in person in Taipei, hurry up as they switch mid November to evisa.

Good luck everyone! Thailand, here I come 🇹🇭

Need urgent help for my DTV application please. My flight is next week and I just received a request for additional documents for my DTV (Destination Thailand Visa). The request:

1. Other request documents: Upload recent pay slip from the company that must show your full name and company's name.

*- I don't receive a payslip. I receive a direct wire transfer/direct deposit into my checking account. Can I provide a statement showing this?*

2. Other request documents: Upload an employment verification letter from an employer or self-employer that include the full name, position, *digital nomad/ remote worker, period of employment and signed by the authorized i.e. HR department or manager (Issue within 6 months)

*- I'm not an employee therefore I don't have an employment verification letter. I have a couple of contracts with my clients.*

3. Other request documents: Upload financial evidence or recent bank statement only that include date of issue, your full name: amount of more than THB 500,000 or USD 16,000.

*- I had previously uploaded my bank statement showing this. Why are they asking for this again? I provided bank statement along with my investment account statement as an add-on.*

I previously provided all the documents, but I am being requested again for this. Given the timeline of my flight, I want to make sure I am providing the correct documents.

Can anyone please provide guidance on what docs I should be providing in my case? Thank you very much!

Applied at the London Embassy for a DTV, Muay Thai course.

Application submitted on Tuesday, approved yesterday.

I had allowed 2 weeks for it, very surprised it was so quick, and very happy to get it.

Just applied in Taipei this morning. Was asked to return to get the result at 3p. Showed up early and was told I was approved around 2:30p. Back tomorrow at 4pm to pick it up. Line was really short today being that they were closed yesterday. In and out this morning in 30-40mins.
