I applied on Friday 29th November. I was asked for further documents, one being my e-ticket. So it appears the London Embassy want you to have booked a flight. I fly on 16th December and I am at ‘pending approval’ stage. Feeling a little nervous the DTV won’t come through in time, if approved. Has anyone else applied around the same time and have you been approved?

Finally got the DTV. Went through an unbelievable ordeal to get it. Here’s my story:

Applied in Savannaket a few weeks ago in the workcation category. Waited a few days, then was told that I need to provide some extra business documents from my clients translated and notarised. For various reasons I couldn’t get them, so I went back on a tourist visa.

Decided to apply the soft power route. Found a Muay Thai gym that could provide the documents and I purchased a 6 month course with them for 22k.

Flew to China under the new visa free arrangement, thinking I could apply there. Was told at the embassy there that foreigners cannot apply in China without a Chinese residency permit.

Decided to take a bus to Hanoi. Forgot that I need to apply for a visa invitation letter first for Vietnam (d’oh). Missed the bus. Decided to book a flight straight to Taipei to apply there.

Applied at Taipei on Monday morning. They told me I needed a certain business license document for the gym which was different from the document I had been given (which was strange because 10 people had already gotten the visa with this gym with these same documents, including one in Taipei).

They also said they wanted me to show them my bank account balance on my phone. Opened my bank app, and suddenly I was completely locked out for security reasons. Spent hours on the phone with customer support and waited a full day before I could get back into my account.

Meanwhile, I emailed the gym owner. He said they don’t have that specific document, but gave me a copy of his work permit.

Went back the next day. Got a different visa officer this time. She decided that the issue was actually not about that business license document, but the fact that the name of the gym on that document did not match the company I made the payment to (which is actually the company owned by the gym).

I told the owner. He agreed to issue a new invitation letter under the name of the holding company so that it would match up.

Meanwhile, I suddenly realised that… I could not find my passport. I had given it to the lady at the embassy, and it seemed she never gave it back. Cue one hour of me and all the embassy staff running around frantically trying to find my passport, and me panicking thinking that I would have to order an emergency one and be stuck here for another week.

Finally, some lady in the back room of the embassy yelled “found it!” It was hiding under some document.

By then I was sweating bullets and my head was spinning.

I gave them the updated invitation letter and explained them that the gym is actually owned by this holding company.

Three of them got together and scrutinised the documents. They highlighted a bunch of stuff, then decided they would let the supervisor make the final decision, and told me to come back in the afternoon.

I came back at 3pm, and they told me it was approved.

THE END

I'm applying for the DTV in HCMC now.

I'm thinking of moving to Da Nang today.

Is someone required to be physically present at the HCMC embassy for additional documents?

Just wondering if it's worth staying around, or if it doesn't really matter.

Approved in Jakarta - Soft Power(Muay Thai)

The process was smooth and stress free.

I recommend going early in the morning around 07:00. Check the documents multiple times and organize them well. There are people who spend a long time for checking and organizing their documents in front of the counter. Don't do that. The people waiting outside are suffering from the hot weather.

Korean passport holder

Visa fee : free for Koreans(also Singaporeans, Malaysians and Tunisians)

Processing time : 3 business days

Documents

- passport bio page

- 2 recent photos

- proof of stay in Jakarta

(hotel reservation and EVOA details)

- in and out flight ticket

- bank A's statement for 6 months

(transferred approx 500k THB 1 day before applying; my main account, so there are many transactions)

- bank B's statement for 6 months

(deposited approx 250k THB for ages; I don't use this account, so there are no transactions)

- muay thai gym documents

(3 months course; highly recommend Tiger Eye Martial Arts if you are staying in Bangkok)

- condo lease/rental agreement

(not required, but I thought it might help with the visa application)

Just received my DTV Workcation E-Visa. Applied online addressed to the embassy in London, UK. Took 3 working days, and here are a list of documents I sent in.

1. Passport bio data page

2. Photo

3. Most recent bank statement with £11K+ balance. Just one month and required balance transferred in one week prior.

4. Letter from employer stating name, position, duties, and that the job can be done remotely.

5. Employment contract (this wasn't on the initial list provided by the embassy, but they requested it as an additional documentation)

6. Proof of address: utilities bills.

Thanks to Oliver O'Dell and Nigel Blake from this group for helping out with my queries.

Good luck everyone!

Here is my story on how I applied for DTV through Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo (Sri Lanka) : [members only]

This is how I applied for Thailand Destination Visa (DTV) From Sri Lanka under Workcation category: Refer [members only] for more info.

I’m a Sri Lankan living in Chiang Mai. I got an ED visa last year, which I can use until this December. I wanted to apply for the DTV soon, so I came back to Sri Lanka on 31st October. I gathered the following documents and submitted them on the eVisa portal.

Financial Proof:

• Bank balance confirmation letter: Final balance as of 3rd November.

• Pay slips: Last 6 months.

• Bank statements (salary account): Last 6 months.

• Bank statements (savings account): I only had the 500,000 THB+ balance for the last 2 months. There was no money there before.

Work Profile:

• I wrote a cover letter about my situation (I’m a software developer working remotely for a foreign company, and I’ve been to other Southeast Asian countries as a digital nomad).

• Attached my professional agreement letter with my employer and included their contact emails for verification if needed.

Payment:

• The fee is 120,000 LKR, equivalent to 14,000 THB. (Not sure why it’s higher than usual.)

Timeline:

• Application Submission: 5th Nov, 6:30 p.m. (IST)

• Document Request: Received email on 6th Nov, 3:30 p.m., asking to upload all pages of my passport.

• Passport Upload: Uploaded on 6th Nov, 11:30 p.m. (Creating a PDF under 3MB while retaining image quality for 33 images was tricky.)

• Interview Request: Received email on 7th Nov, 11:00 a.m., asking to visit the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo for an interview on 8th Nov, 10:00 a.m.

• Interview: I went with hardcopies of all my documents (bank statements, offer letter, etc.). (It was a casual conversation — I think they just wanted to confirm I was in the country.)

• Visa Approval: Received on 8th Nov, 11:30 a.m.

Interview Summary:

There was no one else at the embassy. The officer asked me why I wanted this visa. I explained that I’m a digital nomad and have been traveling in Southeast Asia for the past few years. I mentioned I’d wanted this visa since it was announced.

• He asked how long I’d been in Thailand; I said 15 months on a student visa.

• He asked what I was doing there, and I explained I was learning Thai and living there.

• He asked about where I stayed, and I said mostly in Chiang Mai, though I’d visited the south as well.

• He reminded me I’m not allowed to earn money in Thailand, to which I replied that I understood.

• He asked if I had any family there, and I said no.

He took all the hardcopies and informed me that I’d receive the result via email.

Everything was pretty fast, with no major issues.

Husband got DTV today after almost six working days. Applied in Vietnam. Probably would be shorter process if you could upload everything at once, but they asked for documents separately so we just gave them only what they needed. Tonight we're doing my tag along DTV.

Hi all ! Just wanted to share back my experience about my DTV application (and a successful one 🥳) in case it can help someone here.

I am french, sole owner of my company, I applied for workcation as freelancer, at the embassy of Hanoi, Vietnam.

Applied as soon as I passed immigration at Hanoi's airport, added my passport stamp with the booking of my hotel to the website, everything else was already uploaded and saved, validated, and payed arround 3pm Monday 28th of October.

I believe the next morning (tuesday 29/10), the website was showing "Pending approuval" and it was the case until Tuesday the week after, when it got approuved at 9:50am (05/11) 🥳. It took 7 working days counting the day I applied and the day I received it.

No extra document were requested, it was simple, but a bit stressful to wait, and check the website regurlarly.

I saw someone give that advice on this goup, and I have to agree and give the same one. Save yourself some stress, and book yourself a week even though you could have it in less 😊

Documents I gave :

- Passport + identity picture

- Stamp of entry in Vietnam + booking of my hotel

- Document signed by my bank confirming in english that I had more than 500 000 THB on one of my banking account + a monthly from 2 months ago of that banking account

- A PDF document with on the first page a summary of the documents inside the pdf, which were :

- Letter to explain nature of sole proprietorship business, with links to my website, YouTube channel, Instagram, and LinkedIn profile

- English translation of my website (screenshots translated on Deepl)

- 1 invoice in french and english

- Document of ownership of sole proprietorship business in french and english

- Tax certificate of 2023 of my company in french and english

- August 2023 Turnover in french and english

Hope it can help someone :)
