Hi, I'm a bit confused about my experience with the DTV visa in Thailand. I've entered Bangkok three times already, and the first time was smooth with no issues. However, the next two times, I encountered some questioning at immigration.
After my first entry in February, I traveled to Singapore in April and stayed for three weeks. When I returned to Bangkok, a female officer asked about my purpose for visiting Thailand. I explained that I'm taking cooking classes and showed her some photos. She also asked about my return flight to my home country.
When I returned from Singapore again in May, I encountered another female officer who asked why I applied for the DTV visa in Hanoi. I explained that it's for cooking classes and mentioned that I have a sister here. She asked for my return flight ticket, which I showed her, and then stamped my passport.
I'm wondering why I'm being questioned despite having a DTV visa. Should I mention my one-year condo lease in Bangkok during future entries? For context, I'm not working, and I visit Singapore regularly because my partner works there. Since we're not married, I opted for the DTV visa as it's more convenient for me to stay in Thailand than fly back to my home country, which is a four-hour flight. TIA.🙏
On January 12th, I left Phuket airport for the second time with DTV visa, after 26 days in Thailand. The officer spent a long time reading something on the screen and asked me what my activity in Thailand was. I replied that, as a teleworker, I had worked those days for my company in Spain. Why this question? Has anything changed with DTV?
Australian citizen, just used my DTV for my second entry into Thailand.
Both times I've been interrogated about my accomodation in Thailand, and this time the immigration officer seemed quite hostile and asked me for exit date, if I have a Thai wife, if I live in Cambodia (that's the consulate I asked for my DTV), what was I doing in Cambodia, and if I'm working in Thailand.
Could I be doing something wrong to attract all this attention? I don't mind a few questions, but I thought I'd got a valid visa in accordance with Thai immigration rules.
So far it has caused more scrutiny than just using a visa waiver.
I arrived in Thailand on a DTV Visa, but my experience with the immigration officer was quite frustrating. The officer asked me seemingly irrelevant questions, such as, 'What are you doing here?' I explained that I work online and came to stay in Thailand. Then he asked, 'Why don’t you live in your own country and work there?' I responded that I enjoy living in Thailand. Lastly, he questioned why I applied for my visa in another country instead of my home country. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily complicated.
Hi guys, I have a really silly doubt that just popped into my head, on September 26th my DTV visa was approved, I know I have 3 months to validate it, my flight is on December 13th, my doubt is: are 90 actual days valid or is the third month counted as a whole starting from December 1st? thanks a lot!
