I went into Chiang Mai Immigration a week before I was planning to renew. Had some questions and the very helpful guy at the desk added it was a waste of time making an appointment. I didn't ask why but ..... just get there at 7.30am, get a number and it shouldn't take too long.

Last week it was something of a circus at document checking so don't be much after 7.30! It only took 50 minutes once I was inside to be on my way!

My personal experience is that's not going to be a problem. I have come and gone for a number of years with no issues with 4 or 5 visits a year.

Thanks Stuart for the suggestion .... appreciate it but it doesn't answer my question.

My problem is logistical and I can either transfer my account to another branch or change banks..... given my current bank has proven to be the most inflexible and bureaucratic of the Thai banks it seems an opertune time to change banks if that was possible ..... hence the question.
