My partner has a 60 day Tourist Visa for Thailand ......from the Thai Embassy.
If she enters Thailand is that automatically activated or can she get a 14 day visa free entry and then activate the Visa when we return after a trip away.
To do what we would like to do we have to enter Thailand due to flights .... its unfortunately impossible to transit.
I suspect I know the answer but hope springs eternally.......
Thanks so much

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the activation of a 60-day Tourist Visa upon entry to Thailand and the possibility of using a 14-day visa-free entry instead. The user seeks clarification on whether they can enter under the 14-day visa waiver first and later activate the tourist visa after a trip, as direct transit is not an option. The comments suggest that typically the existing tourist visa would be used immediately unless the immigration officer permits otherwise, and they also mention the option of purchasing a re-entry permit to maintain the tourist visa's validity.
I would say they will make her use the tourist visa she has issued already, although you can ask the officer when she stamps in IF she can enter visa waiver for the 14 days her passport gets. They are under no obligation to let her do that..
The other thing would be to stamp in on the tourist visa and then buy a re-entry permit at the airport before she flies back out keeping that 60 day stamp "alive" so she can get stamped in on it again when she returns
