no, why should it ? Other countries including France have similar practice - hotels provide authorities details of all guests…..

Check with your embassy or local tourist police office, don’t listen to keyboard warriors, they won’t be around if you have insurance issues or problems with police. Better still get a Thai license as soon as you can, then no debate.

Sooner rather than later, as it seems to be in fashion worldwide . Thailand is usually late to the party lots of reasons for them to implement , not least of all a vehicle for them to collect dreaded tourist tax. I am sure it will be a big announcement when it happens.

I live here and have done for 7 years, but get regular visitors incl family. Agree on the ETA will stop a lot of the BS and clear the swamp……

Nothing yet, but only a matter of time many countries have introduced this year, and B300 tourist tax is dependent on it that’s a massive carrot.

It’s the only way they can collect the tourist tax that they have been talking about for several years, airlines and hotels have refused to co-operate. So there is a significant financial incentive to make this happen, not to mention the ability to prevent folks gaming the system, with multiple border hops.Even the UK is about to introduce it, so only a matter of time I guess.
