TLDR : Answer Summary
The question regarding the necessity of an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for travel to Thailand in January 2025 remains uncertain. While discussions about implementing an ETA and a associated tourist tax have occurred, as of now, it is not officially in place. Various comments indicate that the ETA proposal has been postponed indefinitely, with no clear timeline on its introduction. Therefore, travelers should not expect to require an ETA for their upcoming travel but should stay updated on any developments.

Nothing yet, but only a matter of time many countries have introduced this year, and B300 tourist tax is dependent on it that’s a massive carrot.

It will be voted on in Parliament in January as the government is proposing to include the 300 baht tourist tax as part of the online ETA application process, so I wouldn't be expecting it to be introduced until February at the earliest
