TLDR : Answer Summary
The original inquiry seeks advice on converting an individual retirement visa to a spouse or dependent visa in Thailand, suggesting the necessity for the spouse to apply for a 90-day 'O' visa in their home country before converting it upon return to Thailand. Comments emphasize the importance of verifying marriage certificates with both local and Thai authorities before making such a transition. Additionally, guidance was given to consult the local immigration office regarding the eligibility for changing visa status during the extension process.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

Speak to your local immigration office.

If you are married and both on Non-o based on retirement 1 yr extension, you should be able to change the reason for extension to dependant on your next extension.

If you are on an initial 90 day, they will not likely allow it.

And reports now suggest that none of the SEA embassies will issue the non-o 90 day (based on retirement) dependant .

While your wife is in her home country make sure to get your marriage certificate verified both by your government and the local Thai embassy. Then when back in Thailand translated and verified by the ministry of foreign affairs.

We had a lot of extra stress not doing this before arriving in Thailand.

Go to the Embassy website that serves your home country and see if they sell the Trailing spouse visa and, if so, the requirements/process
