exactly what I plan to do. Always have a plan b.

Apply for 90 day non o in the UK before you leave using banked money in home bank account for proof of funds. Come to Thailand and open a bank account and deposit 0 baht at least 2 months before your 90 days runs out. Once the money has been banked for two months you can apply for 12 month extension based on retirement being over 50. You will find it easier to open a bank account with non o visa than you would if you entered visa exempt or with 60 day tourist visa. Even with 60 day tv you only get one extension giving you the same 90 days.

I gave them a 20 page map to my home in Wales. They did not see the funny side. Anyway, we always joke about it now.

I used an agent to get me a new passport. Saved me 2 flights to Bangkok plus hotel fees. They charged 4000baht which was excellent value.

my first extension took two visits and about 9 hours. If it was like that all the time I would definitely use an agent. My last one took two hours tops as I knew exactly what was required. My local office has been far more helpful since I got the stamp from them.

The other issue with agent obtained extensions is that your home immigration office will know and possibly make things difficult for you. That was the case for me though I did get most of what I wanted with a lot of patience and perseverance. I had to fly to Bangkok to et my stamp put into new passport. Bit of a pain.

In addition, on entry with my second agent obtained extension I was told in no uncertain terms to get my next one myself so I did. My local Iffuce has been much more helpful since. Just my experience. Get a visa your self if at all possible.

I find the use of money to simplify my life quite an inviting form of investment. Thailand is the ideal place for that.

Nothing like a good laugh and plenty of those here in Thailand. If I hadn't had facebook advice from some very helpful people I would probably be in jail for overstay or some other thing I failed to understand. Good luck.

well the charge from agents must have come down a lot since I used one last in 2022.
