Maple syrup, extra dark. As much as you can pack. 1-2 laptops: Ryzen3 or higher, i3 or higher. Yes you can buy maple syrup locally in Thailand, but at 100-300% markup depending on where. Laptops arent so bad of a price markup (maybe 15-50%), and may also lack certain features that the US equivalent model may have as standard.

Other things like razor blades, clippers, or small electronics or small tools that might be difficult to find at the same quality in Thailand. But then again, amazon.com US does have some limited shipping to Thailand... And the import estimates are acceptible.

is that the first time, or 2nd/subsequent time? Do you bring your own financial proof?

depends on your passport, visa category/reason, etc. But 35-60k thb for yearly extension.

You really must contact them and get an exact quote.

Sorry your employer put you through that. Perhaps your first intro to "face" and Thai bureaucracy.

You can still work and obtain work permits with non-o visa or non-o based extensions. And it is better for you as your permission to stay/extension of stay is not tied directly to your employer.

It's actually also LESS paperwork for your employer also. They just need to take care of the work permit. The non-b is really only feasible if you cannot easily qualify for non-o. But as they say in Thailand, "up to you."

I think the best thing anyone thinking of retirement could do is get a tourist or non-o visa and just explore the place for several months. It's not like you have to move all at once.

The advice you get on the ground or from people you meet in person will be far more realistic.

Not sure why you werent on extension/visa based on family from the beginning.

But in any case, you are overcomplicating things. Hop to Penang or Savannakhet and obtain single/multiple entry non-o based on marriage. Then make a new extension for family based on the new non-o entry.

Shouldnt be a problem. You can always email bangkok bank and inform them of which branch you will collect the needed forms from. And that branch will have a heads up.

FYI Thai immigration can link the passports together. Date of birth, country, and and name is the same, correct?

Kuala Lumpur. Many daily flights. Can take the late evening flight out and then the morning flight if you require overnight stay.

Also, once at KLIA2, easy to connect with subway train or bus to either KL Sentral, or Putrajaya [i think] which you can take buses to penang and go onwards back into Thailand.
