Got a colleague with a Pakistan passport who is looking to get a non-o visa or extension if possible. His situation:

-> Is married to Thai wife (in Thailand,

-> entered on tourist visa or visa on arrival. Got a non-O 90 day in Bangkok earlier this year in June with an agent. Extended this non-o stamp for 60 days himself, which expires Nov 17th.

He would like to get non-o (single OR multiple) at neighbor consulate (Savannakhet, Laos??) OR possibly try for 1 year extension based on marriage.

Realistically, what are his chances? And what docs does he need?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A colleague with a Pakistani passport, married to a Thai spouse, is seeking a Non-O visa or a one-year extension based on marriage. He previously entered Thailand on a tourist visa, obtained a Non-O visa with a 90-day stay, and extended it for 60 days. The comments suggest he can apply for a one-year extension if he has 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account and should consult his local immigration office for specific requirements. For a Non-O visa, Savannakhet, Laos is a viable option, especially for the multiple-entry version, but he needs to verify the acceptance of his passport type.

I would double check with the consulate if they accept passports for Pakistan.

This is Vientianne they require a 4 week background check for Pakistan passports

If he has 400k in a thai bank account he can probably get the one year extension in Thailand. If he has the equivalent of 400k but in a foreign bank he can probably get a one year multi entry at savannakhet. If he doesn’t have 400k he can probably get a single entry 90day non O from savannakhet

what about Penang?

I can only say for sure about Savannakhet because I was there and did my visa last week. Penang might have the same options but I have never been there so I can’t say that with any certainty

If he wants to apply for the 1 year extension he should go to his immigration office and ask for the list of requirements. They vary from office to office. Here is a general list but he needs to go to his office and ask for their list.

I'm not sure what you mean by "what are his chances" as he either qualifies or he doesn't. There isn't any chance involved.

Check the website of the consulate he wants to go to for the requirements. The only one that offers multiple entry non-O for Thai spouse is Savannakhet. They will all require proof of 400,000 baht or equivalent in a foreign account.
