. Yes good point. I'm inside the country so I was referring to my situation. I just get extensions every year. So I guess he'll have no choice other than having to renew it in the UK.

Well. I'm on a non 'O' visa which I've had for two years now, and each year I just extend it for another 12 months.. So I would guess that your one would be the same. But I'm not certain.

. Just because you have a wife and child here, it doesn't automatically mean that you're on a visa based on marriage or a dependent. You could have a non o visa based on retirement. Which would mean that you wouldn't be allowed back in the country. So Bobby s questions was relevant.

This doesn't make any sense at all.. if you have a non immigrant "O' visa, you can come back here anytime you want.. only tourists are restricted.

I guess I am mistaken.. actually it doesn't effect me as I've no plans of leaving the country anyway.. I only got involved because a friend of mine is planning to take a trip to the UK with his daughter. And I don't think he is aware of any problems coming back here on an o visa based on retirement.. I have since, passed this post on to him...
