I have a hi pathetically question. Which has come about, after others have said that 'if you are staying in a hotel on the date that you are due to do your 90 day report, you need to do nothing, as the hotel will automatically report where you are to immigration.. am very skeptical of this as in my experience many hotels wouldn't do it, and I wonder,
How much is the fine for not doing your 90 day report would be. Because you thought that the hotel was going to do the report for you but found out later that they actually didn't.. what will the penalty be to you ?? .
If it's a low penalty I might have to consider not bothering to do the 90 day report any more.. and if immigration eventually say something to me about it.. I can just say that I have been staying in hotels and I thought that they had done it for me.
When you leave the hotel, do they tell you when your next report date is ? How else would you know .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day report is a requirement for foreigners in Thailand to inform immigration of their current address. Many believe hotels automatically report this information, but it's crucial to understand that the responsibility lies with the individual. Fines for failing to report can be up to 2,000 to 5,000 baht, depending on the circumstances. It's recommended to personally handle the reporting to avoid complications, as relying on hotels could lead to unexpected penalties.

The 90 day report and the tm30/tm28 are different things.
We have to check in at immigration every 90 days (the clock is reset if you leave and re-enter the country).
Immigration also need to know where we're sleeping every night. If we're at a hotel, they have to report that we're there (tm30). If we go back home, we (or our landlord) have to report that we're home (tm28). This is unrelated to the 90 day check, which we still have to do whether we registered our location or not.
Joe Reynolds Acland Most Imm offices only want you to update if you left the country and returned. Not if you stay in a hotel or travel within Thailand
Yeah, or you can do it yourself with a tm28 instead. That's what I have to do, because my landlord is usually out of town.
But my main point was that the landlord isn't doing your 90 day check for you - he's just updating your whereabouts. And you still have to do the 90 day check separately
In either way you have the permission to stay longer than 90 days, Non Immigrant O-A or O-X visa, Extensions of Stay or other, you signed you understand the rules of this. You will not get away with an excuse: I think hotel will do for me.
YOU have to report that you are 90 days in the country, not hotels or somebody else. You can do this on-line, between 15 and 7 days before the due date, 15 days before due date by mail (post office) or 15 days before till 7 days after the due date in person at Immigration Office. Fine not not making a report is maximum 2.000 Thb.
