Just a quick question please guys and girls..

Ive got a friend who's going to savanekhet to get a tourist visa.. he's been on 'B' visas for 10 years.. and he's heard that he'll only get 15 day visa ( british passport) .. im pretty sure he'll get 60 day visa that he'll be able to extend for another 30 days.. so who's right...? I just need to check because i know how things change..

I'm also trying to remember what time you have to put your application in on the first day and what time you have to collect it by on the second day.. ?

Is it before midday on the first day and after 1:30pm on the second day ?

I have done it several times before but not for a while so just checking now.

Cheers paul

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British passport holder applying for a tourist visa in Savannakhet should expect to receive a 60-day visa (SETV) instead of a 15-day visa, given their history of B visas. The visa can be extended for an additional 30 days for a fee of 1900 Baht. For the application process, it is recommended to submit the application in the morning on the first day and to collect it the next day after 1pm.

Savannekhet ask for proof of exit ticket too, but not proof of address.

Savannekhet will want proof of the 20k in the form of a bank statement, not cash. The border "may" ask to see 20k cash, not a bank statement.

Your friend heard wrong. As stated above in the first comment - there are no 15 day visas. A British Passport holder with a history of B Visas means he likely does not have any history of holding a string of tourist visas. Which is in his favor. Your friend should have cash on hand of 20,000 Baht to show to I/Os upon Reentry to demonstrate the ability to support himself and copy of a rental agreement or hotel reservation in Thailand. It is possible they may want proof of a flight / bus out of Thailand...

Ok there is know 15 day visa, its a SETV 60 days then you can extend att immagration for 30days=1900bht. You apply on the morning, then pick up next day i think after 1pm
