I'm applying for a Non im' 'O' visa based on retirement. But I'm not quite sure how it all works.. I understand what documents I am to submit but I'm not sure what the procedure is once I have it..

I've had B visas before. And after getting the visa I had to have it extended for a year which was more paperwork .. is the non O visa the same ? Or is it already good for a year soon as you get it ?? And when will I have to do my first 90 day report? Would it be 90 days after I receive the visa?

Thx

Paul Burns blocked me so maybe some body else can copy this: You must be aware that a Visa is to let you stay inside Thailand, if you want to work you need a Work Permit from the Ministry of Labor.

To be fair you gave him wrong information. However, he probably shouldnt have blocked you

I'm surprised to see that on the visa it doesn't say ' employment prohibited' like it does on a tourist visa.. does that then mean it is possible to work on this visa ?

also as far as the 90 day reporting. MOST immigration offices put a piece of paper in your passport when you get the yearly extension that lists your FIRST 90 day report date. If you get your year extension and don't get a paper like this ask them when your 90 day report is due.

The yearly extension of stay.. is that another stamp ? So I should have the visa plus the extension of stay stamp.. them I'm good for the year ?

Then when you go back to get your yearly extension you'll get a stamp like this (and if you get a re-entry permit you'll get a stamp like the one below the extension too

you'll get the Non-O visa, then the new 90 day stamp like this

Okay, ALL Non-Immigrant visas sold inside the country are all 90 day visas.

You'd apply for the 90 day Non-O visa, depending on the immigration office you're going to apply at you do this when you have between 21 and 15 days left on your current 30 day visa exempt entry or 60 day tourist visa entry.

The application will go under consideration for 14 days (chiang mai is 21) and then you go back and get the Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp inked into your passport.

THEN you wait until you have 45 days or less (Jomtien is 15 days or less) left on your 90 day stamp and go back and apply for a yearly extension of stay. Once you get that extension IF you need to you can apply for a re-entry permit

And you're applying for the O visa inside the country at the immigration office or outside the country at a thai consulate?
