What do people do for UK/English tv in Thailand, when we visit family I can’t find any English channels which is ok for our month long visits, but when I retire there it would be nice to have other options.... is there something I can do on wifi etc?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Expats in Thailand looking to watch UK or English TV have various options. Most recommend using a VPN to access UK streaming services like BBC iPlayer or ITV Hub. Subscription services can offer British channels via providers like AIS or True, or users may opt for an Android box, which can provide access to a wide range of channels for a yearly fee. Streaming services such as Netflix and IPTV subscriptions are also popular options. Additionally, some mention using devices like Fire Sticks or downloading apps like Mobdro to enhance their viewing experience.

Go back to the UK.

I never look tv from my country

I mainly use Netflix, I have a vpn bouncer for iPlayer. But most things I can find on you tube or daily motion has almost everything I want. BBC block the you tube stuff pretty fast, but daily motion seem to have it. O also have a box, but haven’t used that much yet. 🙂

Android box costs around 2000 baht on Lazada. You can access all channels and sports through this free with Wi fi connection . I live out in the sticks but lucky we have fiber internet with the company 3BB. Cost for WiFi is 600 baht month for 100 mbps which works well with the android box.

Yes a android box there great

Torrents. I watch all my TV shows through torrents. You can download them in 720p, 1080p, and even lower quality if you like. They are usually available to download an hour after it has aired in the west.

Every Premier League match is on True TV. Loads of good drama shows and films are available on Netflix. Sky News can be streamed live on YouTube. Bloomberg can be streamed live through the Bloomberg app or website.

Most people I know use an Android box and pay something like 2-3000 baht a year for every channel imaginable.

Not legit, but even bars do it.
David *******
I will at some point but been here 33 years!
Tony *********
@David ******
- spot on this is the way to go I've got it and it's currently back with me in UK 😂🙏🏼
David *******
@Tony ********
if my internet was better I’d be using it here as well. Old telephone lines mean my best possible speed is pretty 💩
Tony *********
@David ******
- that's a shame have you spoken to the local suppliers most are upgrading equipment...I went with True but have since learned that I should have chosen either AIS or 3BB..but I will sort that out when I return
David *******
@Tony ********
I was talking about here in the U.K.

Total rip off. Openreach won’t upgrade lines and I’m too far from ‘box’ to get decent speed.
Tony *********
@David ******
- oh I see...yeah the UK is very low down on world rankings for broadband its shameful considering our history and wealth....watch about Virgin...I wouldn't recommend them as I was with them awful company but they use their own equipment unless you're out in the sticks?
David *******
@Tony ********
no cable here. The old Rediffusion cables were removed years ago and Virgin haven’t put any down here. I’m only a few miles from Swansea but may as well be in the middle of nowhere. Can’t even get a mobile signal!
Tony *********
@David ******
- sounds awful I think I would move lol 😂
Maggie **********
contact Paul Anderson (hubby) based in spain but supply other areas including my favorite -thailand - when we can get back !!- ask away - just need internet obviously then we set all up to your needs regards maggie
Pensom ******
You can get Internet to services which have English programmes. There are a few service providers like AIS Fibre, True. They all have CNN, HBO, movie channels, BBC, all that stuff. You can get that over digital tv or just your phone, whatever you prefer.
Dharmma **********
U can pay to get british channels or use a VPN by internet, that's on you and your preferences...
Jack ***************************
Get a VPN... look on techradar one that works for BBC iplayer.
