Before calling something nonsense, perhaps start with reading at least one page of Thai immigration law.

Unfortunately, many people do not understand very simple things.

Having a valid visa does not automatically give you the right to enter the country. The final decision is made each time by the immigration officer at the border. And if the officer questions on what basis you are still using a DTV under the Soft Power category when your activity ended, for example, a couple of years ago, that is something you will have to explain.

That is exactly why the claim that “it is enough to enroll in a course once, and then you can freely travel for five years” is a very dangerous misconception. Yes, the visa itself may still remain valid. But if the immigration officer concludes that you no longer have any real grounds to stay in Thailand under the soft power activity on which that visa was originally issued, they may simply refuse you entry.

At the same time, it is important to understand that even now we are already hearing many complaints like: “Officers at the border asked a lot of strange questions and advised people to change their visa.” They ask those questions and make such recommendations for a reason. Usually, it is because the officer has doubts that the person still genuinely fits the original purpose for which the DTV was issued, or believes that the visa is no longer being used for its actual intended purpose.

If you don't renew your "soft power" activity regularly, you could be denied re-entry after just six months. Has anyone told you about this?

This is due to a misunderstanding of the rules by visa applicants...

BrightCranberry5804 In the first case you were dealing with incompetent embassy staff; in the second, the information you have is incorrect.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with my comment, you can pay a consultation fee of 5,000 THB and I will set out all the applicable regulations for this visa in your situation. All of this is clearly described and documented.

You already have the information you need. What you choose to do with it is your decision.

You don’t need to cancel your DTV separately in advance anywhere. In practice, you have two options: either get a Non-B visa abroad and enter Thailand with that, or enter Thailand on your DTV and then change your visa type to Non-B through Immigration in Thailand.

It's a good company, I can confirm. Their services are relatively inexpensive. For example, to obtain a Tax ID from the tax department, they only asked for 10,000 baht. But then I discovered it takes no more than 15 minutes, and I got the Tax ID myself.
