@Tim ********
I think you will also get a terrible exchange rate?

Graham Crossley apply for a
*****
day tourist visa online first.

When you have this fly into Thailand and open a bank account in your own name and deposit 400,000 baht into it. Wait 2 months then apply for a spouse visa.

Don't use an agent as it is expensive and you can get through the visa process without an agent, just provide the information and documents requested by immigration.

The difficult part is opening a bank account, but shop around. I used Bangkok Bank, but had to try several branches to find one that would open it. Go smartly dressed, be polite and take your wife and her house details.

Good luck.

maybe simply ask DLT. That way you can be certain.

Like you, I would always be cautious about this type of advice, indeed my licence needs extending next year, but I intend to do it at the end of the 2 years to be certain.

I read online that the licence can be extended anytime up to 1 year after expiry.

Never tried this personally, but I have read that several people have done this successfully.

I only seem to be able to do the 90 day report on my smartphone, I don't know why laptop doesn't work.

If you use the link kindly provided by Riaan, you log in and select the 90 day report option, fill in the details and submit.

You should get an automatic reply to state it has been received.

If approved you will get confirmation 2 or 3 working days later (usually).

I use Wise to transfer money. It is simple and usually the best value.

Have you considered getting a Starling debit card (or similar) before you come to live in Thailand?

It is free to use in shops and supermarkets in Thailand and you get the exchange rate of the day.

This means that you need to transfer less cash for daily living here.

Also, in an emergency you can use the card to withdraw cash at an ATM.
