I don't know whether it is a legal requirement, but I would explain that you must have it or you cannot continue, because you must have it for Thai immigration.
They should not refuse to send a photocopy in black and white.
yes, I did the same a few months ago to buy a new car. I don't really see the point of the letter when you have an extension to stay in Thailand for a year, stamped by immigration in your passport, but these are Thai rules and I am happy to comply, to have the privilege to live here. Glad you and your husband got it sorted.
as I said Colin I don't think anybody knows. I think it would be a bad decision to tax pensioners, as I think many would leave, but stranger things have happened.
I don't think anybody knows the answer to this question, but this is not the intention of the Thai government. They are seeking to tax digital nomads etc.
I use Wise as Brandon stated to transfer funds to my Thai bank account. I use this for cash purchases.
I have a Starling debit card from the UK that is free to use to pay in shops etc in Thailand and they use the exchange rate on the day. There are other similar cards (Monza) so check to see if you can get a card like this in your home country.
If you apply early (within the 30 days) the time is added to your extension period, so you might as well apply as early as it is convenient for or you. Just in case you need to get any extra information for immigration.
