Hello all,

I’m in need of some advice…

In the past I’ve never had any issues or questions asked about my travels in Thailand.

Pretty much all of my time has been spent in Koh Tao diving.

In 2016 I had a non-immigrant B visa but eventually sold my share in the company and went back home. The rest of my travels have been on Tourist visa’s or visa on arrival(exemption).

Most recently I did two border crossings in Ranong to Myanmar and back in december 2023 and then march 2024 and left the country in april 2024.

Last week I re-entered Thailand with a new tourist visa which was granted to me by Thai Embassy in my home country. Upon arrival the IO asked me questions about why I’m here and when I’m leaving. ( I was in Transit on Bangkok International airport with connection to Samui) My answer was here for vacation and I’m not sure yet when I will leave. He then looked at my passport which was brand new with no stamps but saw in his computer that I’ve done two border-runs and asked me: you think is okay you go to Burma for 1 day and come back same day? You think this is normal. I didn’t know what to answer him but he took me to another IO and she was a bit more understanding. She told me I had to get a DTV visa if I want to stay longer time in Thailand and I explained to her that I’m not here for any cultural soft power activities. I had to book my outbound flight on the spot for when my 60 days are up. She said next time better for you to have a DTV when coming to Thailand.

My questions are:

- Do you think I’m marked or blacklisted in the system?

- Will IO in Koh Tao allow me to extend with 30 days and will they see the information about my booked outbound flight?

- Where would I best go abroad to after my 60 or 90 days to apply for DTV visa?

Anyone has similar experiences?

Thank you kap.

Hi everyone,

I want to briefly share my situation and ask for genuine feedback from people who have been in a similar case (please, no life advice or lectures 🙏).

Recently, I was denied entry to Thailand at the airport because I had done 3 border runs. One month later, my DTV application was rejected without explanation, even though I met the official criteria.

I still have important matters and all my belongings in Thailand, so I’m considering the following:

* Using a VIP service to re-enter on visa exemption (I hold a Spanish passport).

* Once inside, applying for an ED visa to gain more stability, attending classes every week.

How viable is this path in practice (VIP → ED)?

Do you recommend going straight for ED once inside, or any other legal option to stabilize my situation?

Thanks in advance for any genuine feedback based on real experiences.

Hello dear members.

Something related again to Bangkok bank, but maybe not what you expected, and a very important message for those living here on retirement, monthly method.

Not all embassy give you a certificate, concerning the transfer, of funds needed. In that case, you have to take your bank book, and get bank letter, that the funds have been transferred on your account every month.

Now first this. If you use Wise, that always went well, if you gave as reason, the transfer, was for you needs to live in Thailand. From THIS MONTH on it appears as internet banking. So not good for immigration.

Second, my extension went smooth, end of June. Although Bangkok bank made some difficulty to make the bank-letter (too busy), got all in order.

A trusted person, went this month to Bangkok bank for that same letter, and it was denied, by the bank. Only reason was that they not issue these any more.......

So the person, called to see the manager, and asked for some goodwill, as the document is really necessary in this case for immigration. Finally she felt sorry for him, and as he stayed calm and polite, she agreed to make it anyway, although it was now against Bangkok bank regulations.

She came back a little later, feeling sorry, as she was in the incapacity, to proceed, because the letter was taken out of the system. He then went to Jomtien immigration, asked what to do, as this was no wrong doing on his side. The only reply was, that then they cannot agree with the extension.

He finally had no choice to go to one of these Visa offices, that asked him at first, although they admit, he qualified, 13.000 baht. He cut it down to 10.000, so they went, and then extension, was possible.

Now, I have time till my next visit, although I have to go, as I get soon a new passport, but I am trying to find a solution. If everything is in order from my side, I really not want, out of principe, to use an agent. Nothing to do with money.

So do have people encountered, this month, same with Bangkok bank? The location is the one, one second road, near Walking street Pattaya (where I got mine though in June). Is there another solution, other then to pay an agent?

Thank you.

Don’t know if the right group but here goes.

This is about my Thai wife’s visa to the USA 🇺🇸.

We were married 1/12 weeks were planing to visit the USA 🇺🇸 in two years from marriage. From what I read that’s the magic number needed ( 2 years ) for a visa to be granted.

The question is I have a good friend that has lung cancer. I doubt if she will make it to our two years anniversary.

Is it possible to get her a visa with a doctors letter to visit my friend?

Is a different city more lenient ?

I’m good Non O with reentry permit.

Just wondered if someone here had a similar situation.

Thanking you in advance

This is what Savannakhet, Laos looks like now. Two years ago it was busy and touristy at 5 a.m. there were plenty of people around the Royal Thai Consulate. But now, it feels like a ghost town… so quiet.

I got rejected for the DTV visa at Mumbai consulate, India 😞 👇

Actually I didn't completely get rejected but received a 'tourist tr' visa. Basically a normal visa of 60 days but valid for 6 months. That's a rejection in my eyes.

Now I am just trying to figure out what could be the reason for my rejection? Should I call them and insist on sharing the reason? If anybody here can review my documents in DM and let me know your expert opinion, that would be really helpful!

I applied through the workcation route as a freelancer. Submitted bank statement for 6 months with 500k for 3 months, ITR, Contracts, Clients' business registrations, employment certificate, payment transaction history, basically everything they needed to approve.

From other's experience too, the mumbai consulate seems to be conservative and very conservative. They prolly don't trust the status of 'freelancer' for a DTV visa. They must be looking for the traditional job employed people. They even requested additional documents. I still can't think of a solid reason that they rejected me. Such a bummer, waste of time and money.

Now if there is anybody that can help review my documents pls let me know, so I don't get rejected again. Also which country/ embassy is the best to apply from in my case. Thank you 🙏

It’s already been over 2 weeks since my Bangkok Bank account has been blocked, and I still have no access to my money.

Even though I own a condo, I’ve been told that the *head office* has to approve it, and the process is taking so long. I also met someone with a retirement visa who is stuck in the same situation.

I tried opening an account at SCB.

One staff member told me I cannot open an account with a DTV visa, even if I own a condo. But another staff member in the same branch said I can, took my documents, scanned them, and sent them to the head office.

Now I’m waiting for their reply.

Is anyone else going through the same thing? Honestly, I’m exhausted. I’m down to my last cash and just using TrueMoney to buy basics from 7/11.

Really frustrating... I’m starting to consider what to do next.🤷
