didn't tell them not to get medical insurance. Just told the OP it's not a requirement for a Non O. I assume they are adults and can make that decision.

Unfortunately it is hard to say what will happen as it all depends on the Immigration Officer you encounter. Some people are lucky but like Brandon said there is a good chance they may send you packing.

Do not apply for the Non O A as it requires medical insurance too. Apply for the Non O. No insurance or medical certificate needed.

Can I use Medicare and supplemental insurance for a retirement visa in Thailand, and can I self-insure?

Also be aware that Medicare will not cover you in Thailand. Like someone else said maybe a Medicare Advantage Plan might offer some coverage.
