Have watched this 'elite' visa evolve over last 2 decades. ......nuff said.

Before any more visa, schemes, Thailand needs a govt. It's shown democracy isn't acceptable by the military, although the people thought otherwise.

Somethings in the works, would love to be a fly on wall for this week's meetings in Cambodia.

Do you think the word ' pardon ' came up ?

same as always it’ll only be “talked” about. People (Thai and otherwise) don’t even understand how the law works in relation to any pardon here because the entire subject-matter is used solely as propaganda. He first has to be remanded to the state in custody and deal with the charges that don’t require statute of limitations before he can even be considered for a royal pardon. His best chance was when his sister had “some” influence. He’ll never set foot on Thai soil unless they literally change MANY laws including amnesty provisions.

Ok, so they're basically saying there won't be any more retirement visas and they're going to drive out most expats??

he is a person I believe that holds a very high office in Immigration that has a lot of input about visa requirements and such.

this is speculation right now but since the person behind these requirements is high up the food chain it could happen. Also you need to consider the new government hasn't taken over yet.
