Already have my 1 year marriage visa under consideration. Question is if I want to convert to the monthly 40k income method sometime in the future does the transfer into my Thai bank account have to show as an overseas transfer. I looked at the requirements and it does not say anything about it. My Embassy,(US) does not issue the affidavit. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the requirements for converting to the 40k income visa method in Thailand. Users provide insights on whether the income transfer must explicitly show as an international transfer. Some assert that it should be clearly labeled as such on bank statements, while others mention that it may not be strictly necessary. Various methods of transferring funds, such as using services like Wise and Western Union, are also compared, with emphasis on keeping records for visa purposes.

Make sure your deposits are listed as international transfers. My bank book doesn’t say, but I called Bangkok bank and they said their records show as international transfers and when I get my one year statement it will show as such.

Yes if you are not working in Thailand and can't get an affidavit of income from your embassy then the only option you have, other than using 409k, is to transfer 40k per month each and every month for the 12 months before applying for your next extension

Thank you for the information. I used Western Union instead of WISE this time. Cost me 2.99 to send 40k. Only shows up as a deposit from WU

Which immigration office are you using? Some may insist on 400k if not on a work permit and 40k income from within Thailand.

Unless you use embassy affidavit (which you can’t).

showing as a deposit from WU won't qualify.

what is the difference if what Stuart says is correct. A deposit is a deposit. Or are you saying it has to be an official bank to bank transfer?

Sorry deleted my comment as I had a senior moment and mixed up the 400k needed.

Income method is either 40k from working in Thailand or transferred from overseas.

I beleive it does. I have got this sorted by transferring monthly using Wise to a Bangkok Bank account opened locally. Use funds for long term stay as reason for transfer. I use my UK debit card to pay. Transfer takes two days and shows clearly as international transfer on statement. This was not the case for any other transfer company to either of my other two thai accounts. There is no

baht limit on transfer either.
