TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether money transfers from US banks to Thai bank accounts using WISE are classified as domestic or foreign transfers. Some users reported that transfers can be marked as domestic unless specific options are selected during the WISE transfer process. There are also mentions of different banks in Thailand and their policies regarding international transfers, with suggestions to provide documentation for immigration and visa purposes.

When I transferred a large amount for property it worked out cheaper using my uk bank only £10 transfer fee. I did this to make certain it showed as foreign funds.

Has anyone tried downloading the PDF files for the Wise transfers as proof for immigration. They show that the money is coming from your home country account to your account in Thailand?

Like a lot of people have said, it can be a minefield. I have an SCB account, I always select funds for long term stay as the reason. But it always shows up as a local transfer from Bangkok bank or K Bank.
It’s not a problem for me right now as I have a OA visa from Australia but if I switch to a non O retirement that requires funds in country then I think I’d either open a bank account with Bangkok bank or do a SWIFT transfer from overseas and take the exchange rate hit, just to be sure it lands as an international deposit.

Use Bangkok Bank. They have a New York branch hence a US routing number. You pay fee but cheaper than wire transfer. And easy to transfer or send allotment

There are three banks that accept transfers larger than bt50,000 per transaction from Wise, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, and SCB bank. Personal transfers through the NewYork branch of Bangkok Bank stopped years ago. It is a commercial wholesale branch, and personal transfers can no longer be routed through there, except for SWIFT transfers. I used that route for years before the international transfer rules changed. You, as an individual, can no longer use that route.
I used to do that but my bank stopped allowing it. They said it’s still considered an overseas transfer which you can’t do with ACH.

It's best to do a wire transfer if you need it for a retirement visa. Wise uses local bank's to do the transfer..i think there's a way to request them to show it as an international transfer. I got burned by it since the bank didn't accept it as a transfer from a foreign source for Visa purpose because it showed as a local transfer.
- I am moving from the 800,000 bht/ 400,000 bht to the 65,000 bht income retirement extension conditions. My friend advised me to show a paper trail documenting the transactions throught the whole process from my UK bank to Wise to Bangkok Bank which I plan on doing.

My transfers using WISE from UK bank account to Bangkok Bank are listed as an international transfer.
So when I transfer using “General Living Expenses” it usually takes sometimes 15 seconds for the funds to become available - worst case every few months, half an hour.
You can't use it towards showing the funds came from overseas unless it's a wire transfer or shows the foreign bank name

Phil Jones That's still not going to work.. It has to show this on the receiving Bank statement. The reason doesn't show up on the receiving Bank side... That's just an internal thing on wise..
That's good to know.. Maybe it's changed since I used it. I always do a wire transfer especially when it's regarding a retirement Visa. I had a lot of problems with wise and Bangkok Bank. They would not certify the funds came from overseas.
not it's not false that was me experience.. In fact wise told me to use a wire transfer to make sure. I still recommend a wire transfer to be on the safe side. I had to transfer the funds again so Bangkok Bank would accept it.. So F off John.
