 again thanks for the info,

I am going to be working abroad from late November till mid jan and wanted to get the visa done while Iā€™m away. This makes it easier as Iā€™ll leave my 2nd passport in the U.K. while Iā€™m away and get the visa completed so Iā€™m ready to get COE when arrive back in the U.K.

 no you donā€™t, your visa starts the day you get your stamp when you arrive in country..., then you get 60 + 30 extension from immigration
