again thanks for the info,

I am going to be working abroad from late November till mid jan and wanted to get the visa done while I’m away. This makes it easier as I’ll leave my 2nd passport in the U.K. while I’m away and get the visa completed so I’m ready to get COE when arrive back in the U.K.

no you don’t, your visa starts the day you get your stamp when you arrive in country..., then you get 60 + 30 extension from immigration
