Like you say, you are new to the group. The Immigration rules are in place but havenāt always been fully enforced in the past. Now with the advent and implementation of digital visas and for other reasons, things are getting stricter and being enforced more rigorously to comply with the rules. If youād prefer to see stricter enforcement you could attempt to get a job in China or Russia where your expertise and knowledge might be more appreciated?
What is very very sad is youāre deluded opinion of your own worth and self importance. Get a life and grow up.
Unless he sorts out some sort of visa or fast track entry via an agent before he goes to Thailand, heās in danger of being refused entry and being forced to return to the UK, if he tries to enter visa exempt. Will he have 20,000 baht or equivalent in cash to show Immigration and a also a return ticket?
If he wonāt listen to reason, you need to draw a line in the sand for your own sanity. Give him a reality check and start calling him āCheap Charlieā when he mentions Thailand. Mention āNo money. No honey!ā How much can he save over 6 months on a state pension? Does he have private pension income? You mentioned that he has health issues too? What are they? Thailand has no obligation to take care of chronically ill expatriates and they wonāt.
I imagine from what you say that heās going to be a nightmare to the end and will play the tug at your heartstringās card constantly. In the UK heād eventually end up in a care home whether voluntarily or through medical and legal process. Much cheaper to sort out the Power of Attorney option now than wait until it has to be decided through legal process!
